Jono Gibbes replaces Clayton McMillan as Chiefs head coach
FORMER ULSTER HEAD coach Jono Gibbes has been appointed as head coach of the Chiefs where he replaces the now Munster boss Clayton McMillan. Gibbes, who was forwards coach with Leinster when the province won their first three European Cups, has been at the Super Rugby club for two years as an assistant coach. 'Being part of the organisation for the past two years has given me a real appreciation for what's been built here and how this team has grown into a consistent, competitive unit,' says Gibbes. Advertisement 'My job now is to help maintain that consistency and keep pushing to unlock the full potential of this team. We have a strong foundation and a lot of talent, so I'm excited about what we can achieve.' Gibbes captained both Waikato and the Chiefs as a player and gained eight caps for the All Blacks. After retiring from playing in 2008, Gibbes transitioned into coaching, taking on roles with clubs including Leinster, Clermont Auvergne, La Rochelle, and Ulster. In 2018 he left Ulster and returned to New Zealand for family reasons and led Waikato to a National Provincial Championship title as head coach, before being appointed to lead the New Zealand U20s in 2023. He returned to the Chiefs ahead of the 2024 season as an assistant coach. Former Chiefs head coach McMillan, who is now Munster head coach, said: 'Jono brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and a strong connection to the region. 'The coaching, management and playing group has a lot of continuity and cohesion, which is a strong foundation to build from.'

How you can enjoy free admission to the International African American Museum this weekend
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A month dedicated to recognizing the accomplishments, talents, and contributions of Africans and African Americans to the United States will end on Feb. 28; but some Charleston residents and visitors will have the opportunity to commemorate Black History Month by viewing a special exhibit on one culturally significant museum – for free. Bank of America, Merrill and Bank of America Private Bank cardholders can receive free general admission to the International African American Museum through the 'Museums on Us' program March 1 and 2. The museum currently features an exhibition called: 'Unsettled Things: Art from an African American South,' which showcases the brilliance of often-overlooked Black artists from the south. Additionally, cardholders can take advantage of the special free admission at the Gibbes Museum of Art over the same weekend. There are two special displays happening at the Gibbes which include 'Beeple,' an exhibit that features three of the artists latest kinetic sculptures, and 'Statement Pieces: Contemporary Fashion Design and the Gibbes Collection' which juxtaposes dynamic works of fine art from the Gibbes permanent collection with contemporary fashion objects. Bank of America said it 'believes the arts have a unique ability to connect people and communities and help local economies thrive.' That's why they are offering free access to cardholders through its Museums on Us initiative the first full weekend of every month. 'This is one example of how the bank strengthens the local communities it serves, creates greater cultural understanding, and expands accessibility to the arts,' said Bank of America in a news release. Guests must present their Bank of America, Merrill, or Bank of American Private Bank credit or debit card, along with a photo ID, to receive free general admission into the museums.
