Giganto's introduction is significant in that they are connected to the Skrull, an alien race that has been introduced in previous installments of the MCU. It's also worth noting that this version of Giganto is unrelated to Giganto of the Atlantean Beasts, a giant whale who is affiliated with Namor the Submariner.
