Views sought on new Guernsey blue badge parking spaces
Drivers are being asked whether temporary blue badge parking spaces at coastal car parks are in the right places. The States of Guernsey said islanders were being asked for feedback via an online survey running until 14 September. It said the spaces had been installed to improve accessibility but it wanted to hear views on the locations before making them Evans, states disability officer, said: "The introduction of these blue badge spaces in some key areas around the coast will enable more people to get out and about to enjoy these areas, and we want to make sure we have consulted with the public before assessing where they can be best utilised." Traffic and Highway Services worked with the States Disability Officer to install spaces at:Les Amarreurs Port SoifBordeauxRichmond KioskChouet RousseFort Hommet Cobo (South)Grandes Rocques JerbourgL'Ancresse (East) IcartL'Eree (North and South) South EsplanadePetit Bot Saumarez Park (North and South) Feedback is now been sought about the specific locations before making them permanent, and ahead of any statutory consultation that may be required, the States of Guernsey said. County Durham pub to host 12-day beer festival with £1.69 a pint ale
A County Durham pub will be hosting a 12-day beer festival. The Horse Shoe Inn in Crook will hold the festival from Wednesday, March 5 to Sunday, March 16. The Wetherspoon pub, on Church Street, will have 15 real ales available, including five from international brewers. The overseas brewers, all female, are from Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA. The beers on sale in the festival have not previously been available at the pub, and a number of beers have been brewed for the first time, exclusively for the festival. Among the festival collection are vegan beers, and as well as featuring a range of different malt and hop varieties from around the world, there are also beers that include cherries and cocoa beans in their ingredients. The beers will cost £1.69 a pint, and the international beers are Hey Pal (Terrapin Brewery, USA), Estuary Session Ale (Land & Sea Brewery, Canada), Wallaby (Penny Red Brewery, Australia), Chocolate Porta (Birra Perugia Brewery, Italy) and Antiopdean (Brew Moon Brewery, New Zealand). The festival line-up also includes Alpha Female (Rooster's), Loopy Loo (Batemans), Chase the Sun (Vale), Cherry Nice (Greene King), Queen of Hearts (St Austell), Mocha Porter (Elgood's), Grand Union (Hook Norton), Blossom (Black Sheep). (Image: Gill Evans) Pub manager Michael Gittins said: "The festival is a great celebration of real ale. "It will allow us to showcase a selection of superb beers, featuring beers not previously available to our customers in the pub, including those from brewers as far afield as Australia and New Zealand, as well as those closer to home, over a 12-day period. "All of the beers will be available at great value-for-money prices."
