Former NBA star makes bold claim about Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green
Draymond Green is a four-time NBA champion. He's also a former Defensive Player of the Year, a four-time All-Defensive First Team selection, a four-time All-Defensive Second Team selection and a four-time All-Star. The Golden State Warriors forward is a future Hall of Famer and a generational defensive talent who was an integral part of the franchise's dynasty. However, in a recent episode of the "Gils Arena" podcast, former NBA star Kenyon Martin made a bold claim. The 47-year-old former forward declared that he can name "more than 200 players" who were/are more talented than Green. "Let's not act like Draymond was LaMarcus Aldridge," Martin said. "...I can list 200 people that are better at basketball than Draymond Green right aside, we're talking about going out and playing basketball." Despite his bold claim, Martin did not provide a list of people he believes are more talented players than Green. It's also worth noting that the rest of the podcasting panelists were in vocal disagreement with his claim. Nevertheless, Martin is clearly not a fan of arguably one of the most skilled and versatile defenders the NBA has seen. Regardless of Martin's comments, Green will once again anchor the Warriors' defense when he suits up for his 14th season with the franchise, in pursuit of a fifth championship ring. Golden State Warriors' urged to target do-it-all guard via sign-and-trade
The Golden State Warriors are taking things slow. They're the only franchise to not have made a move over the first two weeks of the offseason, despite clearly needing to upgrade the roster ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. According to Gilbert Arenas, who was speaking via a recent episode of his "Gils Arena" podcast, the Warriors should look into the possibility of acquiring Josh Giddey via a sign-and-trade. Giddey is currently a restricted free agent, but is yet to reach an agreement with the Chicago Bulls over a new contract. According to Joe Cowley, Giddey could be looking for a deal in the region of $30 million per season, which would put him on par with Jalen Suggs of the Orlando Magic. 'They're looking like they'd try to go after like a (Josh) Giddey type. That's their type of player. Giddey,' Arenas said. "They'd put Giddey at the one. They'd put him at the point and say, 'Yeah, just do you.' Now they have a guy who's going to rebound, pass the ball, shoot like he'll hit shots.' Giddey would undoubtedly solve a significant number of the Warriors' on-court issues. However, it's unlikely the franchise would pursue a sign-and-trade deal, as that would leave them hard-capped for the upcoming seasons, and could force the front office into making a wider range of moves. The Warriors may be taking a cautious approach to the offseason, but that doesn't mean they won't make moves ahead of next season. However, we shouldn't expect Giddey to be one of them, not given what it would take to get a deal over the line. Advertisement This post originally appeared on Warriors Wire! Stephen Curry Insists He'll Never Launch A Podcast
Stephen Curry Insists He'll Never Launch A Podcast originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Despite the surge of NBA players jumping into the podcasting world, Stephen Curry has made one thing crystal clear, he won't be joining them anytime soon. Advertisement The four-time NBA champion and face of the Golden State Warriors was asked whether he'd ever consider starting his own podcast. Curry's response was definitive. "You won't see me doing it though, don't worry about that... I've got a lot of other things I want to do other than be behind the mic every day, cause if you're going to do something, you've got to be all in. It's a time commitment, it's a big lift. It's not something I'm passionate about." Curry's stance stands in stark contrast to many of his contemporaries. From LeBron James' cerebral Mind the Game, to Draymond Green's unfiltered Draymond Green Show, and Gilbert Arenas' headline-grabbing Gils Arena, player-hosted podcasts have become an established part of the modern NBA media landscape. But for Curry, despite his charisma, storytelling ability, and basketball IQ, podcasting just isn't a fit. Advertisement And that says more about his laser focus than anything else. Coming off his 16th NBA season, Curry is still performing at an elite level. He averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game in 2024–25 and led the Warriors to the second round of the playoffs. However, his postseason was cut short after a Game 1 injury against the Timberwolves. Without him, the Warriors dropped four straight and were eliminated, a crushing end to what looked like another deep playoff run. Still, with the recent addition of Jimmy Butler, Golden State is reloading, not rebuilding. The pairing of Curry and Butler gives the Warriors renewed hope heading into next season. There's real optimism in the Bay Area that they can contend again, especially with Butler and a more defensively-inclined roster taking shape. Advertisement Even so, Curry's off-court profile is larger than ever. He's got his hands full with multiple ventures including his production company Unanimous Media, philanthropic work with Eat. Learn. Play, and endorsement deals with brands like Under Armour. Add to that his family responsibilities and public appearances, and it becomes easy to see why he's not looking to add the commitment of a podcast to his schedule. What makes Curry's refusal even more notable is that podcasting has become almost a rite of passage for current and retired players. There are 27 known basketball podcasts hosted by NBA figures today, ranging from veterans like Shaquille O'Neal and Kevin Garnett to active players like Trae Young, Paul George, and even young stars like Gradey Dick. Many offer insights fans wouldn't get from postgame interviews or media scrums. Yet Curry, who arguably has more stories to tell than anyone, has no interest in telling them in that format. Advertisement That decision might disappoint some fans eager to hear Curry's behind-the-scenes takes, but it also reinforces the essence of who he is unwavering, disciplined, and focused on things he truly loves. And for now, that still means basketball over broadcasting. USC commit Alijah Arenas walking, talking in the hospital amid recovery from car crash that put him in medically induced coma
Alijah Arenas is expected to be released from the hospital in the near future after being involved in a car crash Thursday morning. (Keith Birmingham/MediaNews Group/Pasadena Star-News via Getty Images) Alijah Arenas is making incredible progress not even a week after he was involved in a car crash in Southern California and placed into a medically induced coma. Alijah, a five-star USC commit and the son of former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas, is walking and talking again in the hospital and is expected to return home in the near future, producer Josiah Johnson shared Monday on the latest episode of the 'Gil's Arena' show. He also is expected to avoid all major injuries after the crash. Josiah provides update on Alijah Arenas 🙏 — Gil's Arena (@GilsArenaShow) April 28, 2025 'I'm happy to announce that Alijah is doing much better. I just got off the phone with Gil about five minutes ago,' Johnson said. 'Alijah's doing better, walking, talking, progressing well. Should be released from the hospital very soon. No major injuries as a result of the car accident.' Alijah, 18, was in a Tesla Cybertruck just before 5 a.m. on Thursday morning when he crashed into a fire hydrant and slammed into a tree, according to multiple reports. The accident was caused by the loss of control of the vehicle. Alcohol and drug use are not suspected, per the report, and Johnson said he was driving back from the gym at the time of the accident. Alijah was deemed stable at the scene, but he was transported to a local hospital and was briefly placed into a medically induced coma due to smoke inhalation. The family said in a statement that Alijah wrote on a piece of paper that he remembered the smoke from the crash and asked, 'Did anyone get hurt?' after he woke up the following day. Alijah is a 6-foot-6 guard from Chatsworth High School in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. He is a five-star recruit who received several notable offers, including from Kansas and Kentucky, before he committed to play at USC in January. He helped lead Chatsworth High to the CIF Division II state championship game in March, too, and he left the school as the all-time City Section scoring leader. Gilbert Arenas spent 11 seasons in the league, most of which were with the Wizards, from 2001-2012. He also had short stints with the Golden State Warriors, who selected him with the No. 31 overall pick in 2001 out of Arizona, the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies. He now hosts the 'Gil's Arena' podcast with Underdog Fantasy Sports, though he's been away from the show since Alijah's accident.
