Popular air fryer recalled from Wilko and The Range over fears it could catch fire
A popular air fryer has been recalled over fears it could melt, warp and catch fire, the UK 's product safety watchdog warned. The Haden air fryer, sold by Wilko and The Range, was pulled from shelves as the Office for Product Safety and Standards warned it posed a ' serious risk of fire '. The regulator said the kitchen appliance's maximum temperature could exceed the stated level, causing the plastic and metal to warp and melt. 'The product presents a serious risk of fire as the heating element exceeds 150 degrees (the marked limit),' it warned. 'After prolonged use on the highest setting, the plastic and metal parts can warp and melt, presenting a risk of fire.' The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016, the watchdog added. Consumers have been advised to stop using the product and return it to any The Range or Wilko store for a full refund. Earlier this month, a popular beef lasagne meal was pulled from major supermarkets over fears it could contain seafood, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned. Recalls have been issued on products for a variety of reasons, including plastic being found in a popular supermarket snack, and the risk a breakfast food may contain insects. We have rounded up the ongoing product recalls you should be aware of. If you have bought any of the items mentioned below, you need to be aware of these possible health risks. Shoppers at Lidl have been warned not to eat a popular snack that may be 'unsafe to eat' as it could contain pieces of plastic. The supermarket has recalled a number of Alesto Raw Fruit & Nut bars because of the possible presence of plastic. Four flavours of the bars are affected by the recall; the cocoa and orange, blueberry muffin, salted caramel, and berry flavoured bars have all been recalled. The affected bars have batch codes of L24316 and L24337, and best before dates of November 2025 and December 2025. Tony's Chocolonely is recalling certain batches of two of its chocolate products because of the 'potential presence of foreign objects'. Listeria, the bacteria behind the scare, can cause a serious illness known as listeriosis. Symptoms range from fever and muscle pain to chills, vomiting and diarrhoea - and can be life-threatening for the over 65s, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems. The nasty bug can also pose dangers to unborn babies and and babies under one month old. Customers returning the item will receive a full refeund, the Food Standards Agency said. Last year, a selection of mousses, ice creams and yoghurts contaminated with listeria bacteria were urgently pulled from supermarket shelves after three people - thought to have contracted food poisoning from the products - died in NHS hospitals.
