12.3L gold stolen, woman files theft plaint against caregiver

Kolkata: A woman living on Shimla Street lodged a complaint at the Girish Park PS against her child's caregiver, accusing her of stealing gold ornaments, worth Rs 12.3 lakh, from her home.
Priyanka Paul hired Susmita Saha through a certified agency in Sept 2024. On Aug 6, when Paul was getting ready for a ceremony, she asked Saha to take out her jewellery from the cupboard, but Saha declined. On checking, Paul discovered several ornaments, including bangles, gold earrings, rings and chains, missing. Confronted, Saha reportedly made excuses and left, said police.
The agency that employed Saha is helping police in the investigation.
