Raon Forest gets up in KNN Cup
BUSAN Raon Forest found herself in a world of trouble when badly veering out after the gates opened, but the Park Jong-kon-trained mare eventually caught up and cut through the entire field to win the 500 million won (S$466,000) Group 3 KNN Cup (1,600m) at Busan racecourse on June 1. The five-year-old grey was stepping out in the third and final leg of the Queens' Tour (Spring/Summer) series, where she faced 12 rivals, including Gladius and Jeulgeounyeojeong. Gladius won the first leg, the Listed Dong-A Ilbo Trophy (1,800m) at Seoul racecourse on March 23, while Jeulgeounyeojeong was the winner of the second leg, the Group 2 Ttukseom Cup (1,400m) in Seoul on April 27. When the gates opened, Raon First's racing antics looked to have ruined her chances of winning, and many would have forgotten about the daughter of Hansen as speedster East Jump (Kim Tae-hun) set the early pace with Jeulgeounyeojeong (Seo Seung-un) in close attendance. Into the home straight, it was Gladius (Kim Yong-geun) who took the lead, but the field was fanned across the track with the win still up for grabs at the furlong pole. Jeulgeounyeojeong never really looked the winner. But Gladius did, and so did 2024 KNN Cup winner Wonderful Slew (Moon Se-young) as she launched her bid to defend her title from out wide. Yet, neither would finish in the top two. After that dreadful start, Choi Bum-hyun, who was aboard Raon Forest ($39), had gathered his mount and taken her across to the inside. The pair began to run their own race, so did Bang Bang Bang (Kim Hye-sun), who came from second-last to make her pursuit. It was Raon Forest and Bang Bang Bang who would ultimately scythe through the pack. Raon Forest gradually struck the front just inside the 100m and prevailed from Bang Bang Bang by half a length. Wonderful Slew finished third, with Gladius a length away in fourth, and Jeulgeounyeojeong another 1¼ lengths behind in fifth. The returning Lady Vader (Jin Kyum), who spent much of the first part of the race at the back with Raon Forest and Bang Bang Bang, ran a creditable sixth. "More than anything, I'm happy we ended up winning," Choi told Korea Racing Broadcasting Channel (KRBC). "I thought it was game over when the start went wrong and it messed up our plan. "But she was calm. We took our time to get back into it and, by the third corner (the end of the back straight), I thought we were okay again. The inside was open, and she was running well. "It feels a bit inconsequential to say it now, but even if she had broken well, we would have been patient. When it happened, I felt 'oh gosh', but I guess I'm a lucky guy today." Choi is one of the most decorated Korean jockeys of all time, with the KNN Cup his 14th Group win. That tally included two Group 1 Grand Prix Stakes (2,300m) - which he won with Dongbanui Gangja in 2008 and 2009 - and a Group 1 Korean Derby (1,800m) atop Final Boss in 2017. In the past 12 months, Choi had only 70 rides, but he still chalked up a healthy return of 10 wins. "This is my first time back in Busan for a year, so I had prepared very hard," he said. "After all that preparation, everything changed at the start, but we got some luck and won. "I haven't ridden very much recently, so I had to change my mindset, and I am ready to take the opportunities when they come." A post-race examination found Jeulgeounyeojeong to be lame in her right fore, which may have accounted for her lacklustre run. That extended a luckless streak for her at her home track. The Colors Flying mare took a race-ruining bump in the back straight in the KNN Cup in 2024 when she finished ninth, and also suffered from her first bleeding attack in the Listed Breeders' Cup Queen (1,800m) last November. Jeulgeounyeojeong has since bounced back and, with some luck, she can return to her best again. The attention in Seoul would shift to finding the next generation of Queens' Tour contenders, as the Group 3 Gyeonggi Governor's Cup (2,000m) at Seoul racecourse on June 8 is the final leg of the Triple Tiara series. Open to three-year-old fillies, the first two legs - the Listed Luna Stakes (1,600m) and the Group 2 Korean Oaks (1,800m) in Busan - were won by Fantastic Value. Trained by Lim Keum-man, the daughter of Afleet Express will be a hot favourite to emulate Jeulgeounyeojeong, who claimed all three legs of the series in 2023. The Queens' Tour (Fall/Winter) series will resume in late September, with the first leg, the Group 3 Jeju Governor's Cup (1,400m), to kick off in Seoul on Sept 23. SKY RACING WORLD

Elden Ring Nightreign: 7 Tips to Beat the First Boss, the Nightlord Gladius
Elden Ring Nightreign, the newest multiplayer action RPG from FromSoftware, tosses you into the thick of battle and sets you up to die to a familiar face in its tutorial (it's Margit, and he still takes ages to bring his hammer down on your head). But the real proving ground is the Tricephalos expedition that ends with the triple-headed dog boss, Gladius. It's the first journey you'll embark on in the game, putting your skills to the test as you learn the flow of the day and night cycle. Speed is key here, and you can't spend a second lollygagging around in this version of The Lands Between. There are key features locked behind the first boss: Most of the game's other expeditions unlock after you beat the first one, new items unlock in the Small Jar Bazaar to advance your meta-progression and beating the first Nightlord aspect is a surefire way to unlock the first secret Nightfarer class. If you're having trouble overcoming the game's first expedition, it's probably because Nightreign is much faster-paced than other Souls games. But there are ways you can level the playing field and better prepare yourself for the fight against Gladius. Keep an eye out for sites of grace, as you'll have to quickly spend your runes before jumping into another prolonged battle. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by CNET Shoot for level 12 as you farm runes The level cap for a Nightfarer on an expedition is 15 -- but you'll hardly ever reach that level as you dash around the world farming runes and powers before the third night approaches. A much easier goal to shoot for is level 12 -- which you can attain if you move quickly and prioritize clearing out camps and bosses. Crucially, you generally don't want to waste any precious runes on merchants you find during day one and two. If you purchase items, you might find yourself several thousand runes shy of eking out another level before the final boss. There's a merchant available before the Nightlord fight in night three, so pack in as many levels as you can and then spend your leftover runes in that shop at the end. Keep an eye out for the elemental icons next to each enemy camp. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by CNET Find a holy weapon before the final night Each Nightlord aspect in Elden Ring Nightreign has an elemental weakness you can exploit -- you can view these weaknesses from the expedition screen before you embark on your mission. Gladius, the fiery dog awaiting you at the end of the Tricephalos expedition, is weak to holy damage. Hitting him with holy-imbued attacks creates additional stagger windows, giving the team more time to whale on the boss while one person strikes the critical hit. You can consistently find weapons with elemental infusions by beating certain enemy camps and fortresses around the map. If the location has an icon for the elemental type next to it, you'll be rewarded with a weapon that deals that type of elemental damage once you slay the final boss there. Keep in mind that Nightreign has inherited Elden Ring's icons for weapon affinities, and the elemental signifiers can be confusingly similar. The lightning affinity icon is a pale yellow blade stuck in the ground with crackling bolts around it, while the similar-looking sacred (holy) affinity icon is a more golden blade stuck in the ground with a circle. Every inventory slot is useful -- you need not worry about "fat rolling" in Nightreign. Screenshot by David Lumb/CNET Grab other weapons that you won't use While you'll probably want to wield a holy weapon when you're face-to-face with Gladius, it's well worth it to stock up on other weapons as well. There's no equipment load in Nightreign, so it's purely beneficial to fill up all of your inventory slots during an expedition. Melee-attacking Nightfarers could benefit from picking up a bow to revive their allies from afar, and ranged-attacking Nightfarers might be able to use a dagger in a pinch. More importantly, though, are the bonuses that extra weapons confer upon your character. When you pick up a new weapon, you'll see a list of passive bonuses underneath the weapon stats and art of war. These bonuses apply to your character even when you're not wielding that particular weapon (with rare exception), so stocking up on armaments will snowball your power before the final fight. Fire damage negation might not help you survive the Nightlord's cataclysmic shrinking circle, but it will help you take down Gladius in a head-to-head fight. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by CNET Invest in fire and physical damage negation The final boss of the first expedition is a fire-spewing cerberus, and he hits like a truck. Nightfarers who have dodge rolls and other abilities that provide generous invincibility frames will likely be able to avoid the hits in this boss fight, but it won't be nearly as easy for tank characters to do so. During the first two days of your run, you'll still have the option to invest in passive abilities that will help mitigate some of the damage the boss can mete out, selecting dormant powers instead of weapons from certain boss rewards. Night bosses provide especially powerful passive buffs, so if you can snag fire or physical damage negation passives, it'll help soften some of Gladius' blows. These churches will look familiar to Elden Ring veterans. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by CNET Stock up on flasks at churches around the map Even if you take passives that help you tank Gladius' attacks, you'll inevitably end up taking a few hits. That damage adds up, and you'll need to heal through it. You start with three flasks and get two more by beating the bosses during the first two nights, but managing a Nightlord with only five flasks can still be a bit tricky. That's why churches are so important to find during day one and two of a Nightreign expedition. They appear as golden, glowing structures on the minimap, so you won't have a hard time plotting a course to these locations -- they look just like the churches that you can get flask healing upgrades from in Elden Ring, too. Each church will up your flask count by one. Walking into a Nightlord fight with eight flasks instead of five makes a massive difference, especially since that's effectively nine more opportunities to heal across an entire squad of Nightfarers. Churches aren't a distraction from rune farming: They're an investment in your survival. As you prepare to face your first night three boss, here's what you need to look out for. Bandai Namco/Screenshot by CNET Watch out for Gladius' massive chainsword attack Nightlord Gladius loves fighting in melee distance and spewing fire, which gives ranged Nightfarers ample opportunity to lay into him with holy damage from afar. When the boss charges away from the fight rather than into the party of Nightfarers, you'll know he's up to no good. One of the hardest hitting attacks in this boss fight has Gladius grab the chainsword off of his back with one of his heads, swinging it as the blade extends across the ground. Original Dark Souls players will probably get flashbacks to fighting Great Grey Wolf Sif, but Gladius isn't a good boy at all. This sweeping attack covers a massive area of the arena and Gladius can use it multiple times in a row. The good news is that it's pretty easy to dodge through, if your character has a roll with decent invincibility frames. The hardest part is identifying when this move is about to be unleashed -- so keep an eye on how far away from you Gladius is trying to fight. Once you begin your battle with Gladius, things can quickly get out of control. Stick together as a cohesive team unit. Screenshot by David Lumb/CNET When the boss splits up, don't let your party follow suit Once you beat Gladius down to half health, he adds a new move to his repertoire. The Nightlord will occasionally split into three fireballs that rocket across the arena -- you'll want to dodge roll through these -- before turning around and returning to the party as three separate dogs. These canines are no less fiery than the cerberus-form, and they'll usually each target a single member of the party. Just because the dogs are split up doesn't mean your team has to, though. Ranged Nightfarers like Ironeye or fragile glass cannons Nightfarers like Duchess and Recluse might have trouble once they're singled out, so it's best to group up and repel this phase of Gladius as a team. Note that in its separated form, each dog takes damage for the full boss, so big attacks targeting an area like various Nightfarer ultimates (Ironeye and Raider especially) are potent here. Once enough time passes, Gladius will fireball around the map once again and return in his cerberus form (unless you manage to defeat him before he switches phases once again). When he takes on his larger base form, you can revert to your original strategy to swiftly take down this very bad dog. With Gladius defeated, a whole host of new expeditions will become available to you and your squad. Even though you've finally bested the real tutorial, you'll probably benefit from our beginner guide as you set out on some of the more challenging Nightreign adventures. Good luck out there, Nightfarer.

How to find and beat Tricephalos in Elden Ring Nightreign
(Image via Bandai Namco Entertainment) Elden Ring Nightreign introduces players to Tricephalos while throwing the players into brutal expeditions where survival hinges upon overcoming the monstrous Nightlords. Tricephalos is the formidable three-headed beast popularly known as Gladius, Beast of Night. The boss serves as the 1st major challenge within the Expeditions of the game, requiring strategy, better preparation, and some quick reflexes. Whether you are playing with the team or solo, understanding the boss's location, weaknesses, and attacks will prove victorious. Use the guide to do it all with complete ease. Where to find Tricephalos in Elden Ring Nightreign? Elden Ring Nightreign - Expedition 1: Tricephalos Walkthrough Elden Ring Nightreign Tricephalos is 1st boss available within the Expeditions menu after the completion of the tutorial. Interact with Table of Lost Graces at Roundtable Hold. This becomes the 1st available challenge. To reach the boss, players will have to survive the 2 in-game nights (co-op or solo) in Limveld. During the day, keep the focus on gathering resources and leveling up. With the night falling, the shrinking circle will appear. Stay inside it to avoid the damage from Night's Tide. At the end of every night, one mini-boss is to be defeated for continuing the progress. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 40대 이상이고 PC가 있으세요? 그럼 이 게임을 정말 좋아하실 거예요! Sea of Conquest 플레이하기 Undo After 2nd night, as the zones become quite small, you will face the challenging Night Boss. Defeat 2nd Night Boss. Success will unlock the central object for entering Spirit Shelter. Here, you can rest and upgrade your gear. The door here will lead you to the Boss Arena, where Gladius awaits. How to defeat Tricephalos Gladius, Beast of Night? Elden ring Nightreign - How to beat tricephalos Full Quest Walkthrough (walkthrough) Gladius is quite aggressive. He hits hard with the fire attacks and physical strikes but is weaker to Holy damage. So, give priority to the weapons with the attribute. The attacks include lunging bites, fire-based abilities, and sweeping sword strikes. Within Phase 1, watch the Chained Sword Sweep, the deadly 2-hit combo with a massive range. To dodge too early will result in you getting hit by follow-up. Note: Give priority to finding the holy-damage weapons in 1st 2 days. Camps that are marked with holy symbols or the merchants are the best bets. Watch Tricephalos closely. The telltale purple glow in 3 mouths will signal a dangerous grab-attack. So, dodge immediately. The chained sword sweeps have a massive, deceptive range. Do not assume the distance will keep you safe. At 75% health, Gladius would split into 3 wolves (deadliest shift). Each of them has unique attacks. One who wields the sword is the most dangerous. Keep the focus on staggering the wolves to reduce the aggression and have better defense. You can even try to have each of the team members (if playing co-op) distract each wolf to prevent the overwhelming focus. With a passing of 45 seconds, they will merge back to 1. Make sure you target the wolf with the glowing red eyes at first, as staggering is easy. After the wolves remerge, they resume the aggressive pressure and exploit the holy damage to break the stance faster. The coordination and exploitation of holy vulnerability will be your tickets to victory. Elden Ring strategies to have victory over Tricephalos Use the holy weapons as they can stagger Gladius fast and open it up for the critical hits. Dodge Sword Sweep. Wait for a moment between the rolls to avoid both hits. Split the focus in Phase 2. Try to assign each wolf to a teammate to avoid getting overwhelmed. Watch for the Purple Glows. They indicate the incoming grab attack. Ensure to dodge sideways for evading. With the right strategy, you can defeat Gladius and unlock some new challenges along with rewards in Elden Ring Nightreign. Make sure to be well-prepared. Also, do not forget to stay mobile and exploit the weaknesses of the boss to have victory.

Elden Ring Nightreign: How to Unlock The Secret Nightfarer Characters
Elden Ring Nightreign's new Nightfarer class system is an easy way for players to pick out a familiar character archetype and jump into battle. Each comes with passive and active skills to suit many playstyles and help round out the game's three-player squads. Creating a strong team composition is just as important as speedrunning bosses and collecting runes, flasks and other upgrades during the three-day expeditions. You'll want to mix-and-match damage dealers, tanks and supporting roles while also ensuring you have melee, ranged and elemental damage options. Newer players might gravitate toward more forgiving Nightfarer options, such as Wylder, Guardian and Ironeye. But the six Nightfarers available to you when you first start Nightreign aren't the only player classes in the game. Here's how to unlock the two secret Nightfarer classes in Elden Ring Nightreign. If you receive this relic after an expedition, you'll be able to unlock the first secret Nightfarer. Screenshot by David Lumb/CNET How to unlock the Duchess The first Nightfarer you'll have a chance to unlock is the Duchess. Once you finish your first Tricephalos expedition, you'll be rewarded with a special green relic -- the Old Pocketwatch. You don't actually have to defeat Gladius in order to obtain the relic, but you do have to complete a full run in order to claim your rewards. This relic imparts decent buffs on any Nightfarer that you're running with a dexterity-based build, but it also doubles as the key item that unlocks the first secret Elden Ring Nightreign class. Once the Old Pocketwatch is in your possession, approach the Priestess in the Roundtable Hold. Her normal dialogue options give some background on what the Nightfarers are doing here and why the fight against the Nightlord is so important. Now, she'll ask about your new relic, and present you with a choice of whether or not to hand it over to her. Even if you've slotted the Old Pocketwatch relic into your build, you have nothing to fear by handing it over to the Priestess. You'll retain the relic and it you can still equip it on any of your playable Nightfarers. When the Priestess is handed the relic, a short cutscene plays where she drops her shroud and reveals that she has been the Duchess all along. She vows to stop standing on the sidelines and join the fight, and with that you'll unlock Nightreign's seventh playable Nightfarer. The Duchess wears a Dark Souls Firekeeper mask, but her overall aesthetic is much more Bloodborne-y. Screenshot by Tyler Graham/CNET What is the Duchess' role in a team? The Duchess is a dexterous attacker who can flit in and out of battle to keep up the pressure. She doesn't have high poise, defense or health, but she can hold an enemy's attention and easily evade their attacks. The Duchess greatly benefits from weapons like fists, daggers and curved swords, though any weapons with powerful lunge attacks will feel right at home in this Nightfarer's arsenal. The Duchess' passive ability lets her expend less stamina when attacking and dodging, allowing her to stay in the battle longer before taking a tactical reprieve. Her class ability, Restage, rewinds time and inflicts additional damage against enemies who have been wounded in the past few seconds. Her ultimate ability, Finale, shrouds the Duchess and any nearby teammates from enemies during a fight, allowing the team to heal up and prepare attacks with long wind up times. The effects of Finale instantly wear off on any person who attacks an enemy (or gets hit by a stray attack themselves). After you unlock the Duchess, a new item will be available in the Jar Bazaar. Screenshot by David Lumb/CNET How to unlock the Revenant You'll need another key item in order to unlock the Revenant, the eighth and final playable Nightfarer. Luckily, this item becomes available as soon as you unlock the Duchess -- it's nestled down toward the bottom of the Jar Bazaar. The Besmirched Frame will cost you 1,500 Murk and, just like the Old Pocketwatch, it's a relic you can use in your Nightfarers' builds. Once you've obtained this item, a Lost Phantom will spawn in the east hallway of the Roundtable Hold. This NPC will be denoted by a girl's portrait on your map -- there will be an exclamation point icon by the portrait's head. Approach this phantom and interact with the girl. You'll be warped to the plateau where you fought the Margit the Fell Omen in Nightreign's tutorial, but this time a unique boss will be waiting for you. Taking on the Night Idol is much easier once you defeat her summons, but you'll still have to avoid some of the spells she slings. Screenshot by Tyler Graham/CNET The Night Idol is an easy boss fight, but there are a couple of enemies you'll have to micromanage. She has three spirit summons she fields against you: Helen, an agile page that will quickly press the attack; Frederick, a bulky cook who swings slowly but delivers devastating blows; and Sebastian, a massive skeleton who can't move but has deadly melee attacks and magic beams. Focusing on these spirit summons is imperative, because they don't come back once they're defeated. You can beat this boss with any Nightfarer, but I found it was easiest with Ironeye. You can use your bow to zone out the summons, peppering them with arrows until they fall, and then move in on the Night Idol boss using your action skills. Once the Night Idol is defeated, you'll be transported back to the Roundtable Hold and informed that you've unlocked the Revenant, the last of the Nightfarers missing from the roster. The Revenant is a doll, like Ranni the Witch. She commands spirits to enact her will. Screenshot by Tyler Graham/CNET What is the Revenant's role in a team? The Revenant is one of the more magically inclined player classes in Elden Ring Nightreign, which means that she's a high risk, high reward character to use. The Revenant has a high focus point (or mana) pool and can take advantage of sorceries and incantations alike, though her stat spread favors spells from Seals and Dragon Communions. What this character lacks in defense, though, she makes up for in utility that allows her to shift focus away from herself and her teammates. The Revenant's passive ability has a chance to spawn spirit summons of non-boss enemies that she deals final blows to. This combines well with her class ability, Summon Spirit, which allows her to call Helen, Frederick or Sebastian (the same summons from the Lost Girl boss fight) to the battlefield. The Revenant's summons add an element of chaos to Nightreign's battles, and often pull enemy aggression away from players. It's much easier to get in the thick of the fight and mete out some damage when there's a small army marching on a boss. When the fight is turning against her, the Revenant's powerful ultimate ability makes herself and her allies briefly immortal. The Immortal March ability applies to other players as well as the Revenant's spirit summons, making it a real Swiss army knife of an ability -- if you really want to squeeze the most value out of it, you can activate it when your teammates are knocked down to instantly revive them. If you've got a spirit summon active, it'll use its own ultimate ability, but it can't swing a fight nearly as well as picking up your fallen squadmates. The Revenant is fragile, but she provides more effective health to her tankier teammates -- and levels the playing field by bringing more allies into the fight.

Gladius Global Advisors Announces Manny Abin as CEO, Bringing Asset Management Expertise and Innovation to the Table
New York, New York, April 28, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Manny Abin, CEO of Gladius Global Advisors Gladius Global Advisors, a start-up marketer of alternative investment funds based in New York City, announces Manny Abin as its CEO. A diversified global asset management company founded in June 2024, Gladius quickly displayed its ability to excel in alternative capital markets through strategic partnerships with specialty managers. With Abin, who previously served as head of global institutional sales for alternative investment management at a renowned investment advisory and market research firm, on board, the company promises to continue delivering consistent, risk-controlled results while sharing exciting hopes for an expansion. Its multi-boutique model offers a unified, end-to-end platform for maximizing alpha, reducing volatility and tail risk, mitigating interest rate impacts, and boosting portfolio yields, among others. On a mission to deliver excellence in alternative capital markets worldwide, Gladius combines sales and trading with asset management. This unique blueprint serves institutional managers across different investment sectors, helping them build a 14-channel distribution business for growing portfolios. While, traditionally, distribution is a side of asset management, Gladius transformed it into its own entity. This decision was ignited by the undeniable rise of distribution awareness, with 71% of asset managers citing it as the priority. The company addresses this shift with geographically carved-out sales teams, who work with asset managers from East to Midwest to West Coast divisions to sell the breadth of their investment capabilities. The company infuses asset management with human communication skills through face-to-face interactions, making it more cost-effective for managers by incorporating cutting-edge technology. From the salesforce to distribution platforms and investment strategies, Gladius acts as an extension of asset managers, helping them build a streamlined business structure. With expertise in alternatives structured into four key pillars – Institutional UCITS, Hedge Funds, Private Equity and Credit, and Structured Derivatives – it provides innovative and tailored solutions designed to drive results. Headquartered in New York City, Gladius hopes to open an office in Miami in the near future. Beyond the US, its eyes are set on the UK and South American markets. Currently in the process of onboarding South American clients, this expansion is driven by the unquestionable opportunities within the continent. 'Many alternative investment vehicles haven't been developed in and customized to Latin America yet,' Abin adds. 'But the potential for growth is immense.' Meanwhile, alternative investments in the UK are prominent and growing. However, as Abin observed, the market is less concentrated than the US, with institutional channels comprising many independent investment firms, as well as high net worth individuals and families. Abin says, 'These developing middle markets are what excites me the most about expanding into the UK.' Alongside its ambitious growth plans, Gladius remains dedicated to delivering exceptional quality within the US, with a core focus on bringing this innovative asset management distribution structure to institutional boutique management platforms. With Abin at its helm, the firm's operations are now informed by more than 15 years of collective institutional asset management experience on both the buyer and seller sides, merged with a genuine passion for bringing asset management potential to life. For Abin, distribution is more than a means to sales; it's the very bloodline of asset management. His vision? For this philosophy to propel Gladius into a premier global asset management distribution player. 'At the end of the day, without distribution, you can't grow,' he adds. 'By treating it like its own entity, we're reaching beyond internal structures. We're helping asset managers access institutional investors across all markets and nations.'
