Correctional Services marks Men's Day with a message of responsibility

Glencoe Correctional Services held a special event on Thursday morning to mark Mandela Month and Men's Day, with a focus on celebrating and reflecting on the role of men in society. The occasion, held at the Glencoe facility, brought together officials, staff, and special guests under the theme of responsibility, family, and empowerment. Area Commissioner Miss NTA Molio officially welcomed all attendees, setting the tone for a morning filled with meaningful discussions and presentations. Guest speaker KE Khoza delivered a powerful address highlighting the vital role men play within families and communities. He emphasised the importance of responsibility—whether married or single—and the need for men to lead by example in protecting women and children from harmful influences, such as drugs and crime. He also encouraged mutual respect within families and urged men to provide both emotional and financial support to their households. Adding to the programme, Themba Ndlovu, a finance consultant, presented an informative session on the importance of insurance and investments. Attendees expressed appreciation for the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and practical financial skills to help them plan for a secure future. The event served as a reminder of the collective efforts needed to uplift communities and strengthen families, aligning with the spirit of Mandela Month. Correctional Services team supports Dundee Primary in Mandela Day clean-up

In the spirit of Mandela Day, staff and inmates from Dundee and Glencoe Correctional Services rolled up their sleeves on Friday morning to lend a helping hand at Dundee Primary School. The initiative, held during the school holidays, saw the team participate in a clean-up campaign that included painting walls, gardening, and trimming trees across the school premises. The project was supported by colleagues from both correctional centres, with inmates from Glencoe Correctional Services volunteering their time and effort as part of the department's ongoing commitment to community upliftment. Officials confirmed that this is just the beginning, with further projects planned to assist under-resourced schools and community organisations in the area.
