Glenmark Pharma to launch Micafungin for Injection USP in the US market
By Aman Shukla Published on August 19, 2025, 09:52 IST Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc., USA, a subsidiary of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd., has announced the upcoming launch of Micafungin for Injection USP, 50 mg/vial and 100 mg/vial (Single-Dose Vial). The product is bioequivalent and therapeutically equivalent to the reference listed drug Mycamine® for Injection by Astellas Pharma US, Inc. (NDA – 021506). The company confirmed that distribution will begin in September 2025. According to IQVIA sales data for the 12-month period ending June 2025, the Mycamine® for Injection market (50 mg/vial and 100 mg/vial) generated approximately $60.7 million in annual sales. Glenmark aims to capture a share of this market by offering a high-quality and more affordable alternative. Commenting on the launch, Marc Kikuchi, President & Business Head, North America, said, 'We are excited to introduce Micafungin for Injection USP, further strengthening our institutional product portfolio and reinforcing our commitment to deliver accessible, affordable, and quality medicines to patients in need.' Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 1.05% in a weak market
NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index traded negative around 10:56AM(IST)on Thursday in a weak market. ADVERTISEMENT Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(up 2.82 per cent) and Abbott India Ltd.(up 0.03 per cent) were among the top gainers. Cipla Ltd.(down 1.73 per cent), Lupin Ltd.(down 1.65 per cent), Ajanta Pharma Ltd.(down 1.54 per cent), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(down 1.35 per cent) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 1.33 per cent) were the top losers on the index. The Nifty Pharma index was down 1.05 per cent at 21975.45 at the time of writing this report. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 87.35 points at 25388.75, while the BSE Sensex was down 264.51 points at 83271.57. Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.
