'Defence has been decimated' but trust Iraola
Former Premier League striker Glenn Murray says Bournemouth face a "rebuilding" process this season given their defence "has been decimated" this Cherries kick off the Premier League season with a trip to Anfield on Friday to face the reigning Premier League champions, Iraola will be without his recognisable back-line but Murray remains optimistic that they will be OK this season because of who they have at the helm. "Bournemouth were one of my favourite teams last season because of the way they played," Murray said on BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast. "Their high press meant they would get up against anyone they faced, regardless of whether the opponents were bottom or top of the league. "Iraola has been a real breath of fresh air but I do feel for him after the way their defence has been decimated. It's going to be a difficult season for them now."The good news is that they have good money to spend and their frontline and midfield is pretty much unchanged. "There is a rebuilding process for the back four but they have made some good signings."They had an injury crisis last year and Iraola proved he can still do it and get results. Everyone thought they would fall apart but they didn't."He found a way so that shows you how good of a manager he is."Listen on BBC Sounds

Isak saga 'extremely derailing' for team-mates and Howe
Former Premier League striker Glenn Murray says the Alexander Isak situation "is extremely derailing" for Newcastle players and "needs to come to an end sooner rather than later." It has been the soap opera of the transfer window, but with the curtain raising on the Premier League this evening, there is no clarity on whether Isak will remain in at Newcastle or get his desired move. Manager Eddie Howe has previously told BBC Sport's Ciaran Kelly the situation has not been "healthy" and has posed "a big challenge" for his squad to manage during pre-season. "It will have affected some more than others," Murray told the BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily podcast. "Every footballer understands that you are an individual entity and you need to look after yourself first and foremost. "Isak clearly thinks his time at the football club is up and he wants to win more trophies than just the League Cup. "He doesn't want to just be part of the Premier League and Champions League but be within a chance of winning them. "It's extremely derailing. But I am sure if he walked back into the dressing room ready to face Aston Villa, there would be 18 delighted players to see him back in black and white. "I do understand why he wants to leave. He has delivered what he promised and I think Newcastle have delivered on what they promised him. "There is no doubt that he will be leaving a football club that he has made better, but there does come a time in a player's career where they want to go for big trophies. "Ultimately, that is his level. He has improved so much that he is the one that the big clubs want. "This saga needs to come to an end sooner rather than later so that Newcastle can understand where they sit in the transfer market." Listen on BBC Sounds

'McKenna's name will be bandied about this summer for other jobs'
Former Premier League striker Glenn Murray is unsure whether Kieran McKenna will remain at Ipswich Town next season as he is likely to be on the radar of other clubs this on Ipswich's fight to stay in the top-flight this season and what could lie ahead for them next season, Murray told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast: "I think McKenna's name will be bandied about this summer for other jobs."Even though he does have a specific style of play, I do feel like he he has tried to adapt it in the Premier League compared to how he set them up in League One and the Championship. "When you zoom out from this season, he has done an absolutely unbelievable job at Ipswich. So regardless of whether he is their manager or not next season, I think he will always be remembered fondly. "Of the three promoted teams, Ipswich made the best go of it. They did some good business in the transfer window and Liam Delap was a great signing."They might struggle to keep hold of him, but if they can the nucleus of that squad together then they will be right up at the top of the Championship table next season. "Whether McKenna will be in charge, I don't know."Listen on BBC Sounds
