Jonathan Vilma, NFL analyst and ex-Jets star, arrested in Miami
Former Jets linebacker and current Fox NFL analyst Jonathan Vilma was arrested Wednesday in Miami for driving with a suspended license, according to reporter Andy Slater. Vilma reportedly had been stopped because his tag had expired. He just completed his fifth season calling games for Fox alongside Kenny Albert this past season. 4 Jonathan Vilma in April 2025. Vilma joined the media ranks after a successful collegiate and professional career. He was a standout for Miami from 2000-03 before being drafted by the Jets with the No. 12 pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. Vilma's collegiate prowess, including 2003 First-Team All-American honors, has him as a candidate for the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame. 4 Vilma in 2005 with the Jets. Anthony J Causi Vilma won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2004 and appeared in 55 games for the Jets from 2004-07, including a 2005 campaign in which he led the league with 173 combined tackles (128 solo) and earned his first Pro Bowl nomination. The Jets then traded him to the Saints for a fourth-round pick and a conditional pick before the 2008 season, and he won his lone Super Bowl with New Orleans in 2010. 4 Vilma with the Saints in 2012. AP Vilma spent six seasons with the franchise from 2008-13 and earned two Pro Bowl selections in 2009 and 2010. He appeared in 70 games for the team. He tallied 110 tackles and two sacks during the team's run to its lone Super Bowl. The Saints inducted him into their Hall of Fame in 2017. 4 Vilma in 2012. AP Vilma had a run-in with Miami law enforcers during his time with the Saints after being arrested in 2009 on a felony charge for resisting arrest with violence and being hit with misdemeanor counts of reckless driving and obstruction of justice, according to ESPN. Prosecutors later dropped the charges, per the outlet, and he donated $1,000 to a hospital trauma center as part of the negotiation. 'I appreciate that the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office did their due diligence and decided not to file charges against me regarding the arrest that occurred on January 16, 2009, in Miami,' Vilma said in a statement at the time, according to ESPN. 'I believe the State Attorney's Office did the just and right thing in this matter. I would like to thank my family and friends, the New Orleans Saints organization, and my fans for supporting and believing in me.'

Richest US households — including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos — hold record-breaking share of total wealth: data
The super rich got super richer in 2024 – and that process is only speeding up. The 19 richest US households – which include titans of industry like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett – saw their wealth grow by $1 trillion last year, according to new data released Wednesday. These superbillionaires' gains was more than Switzerland's entire economy is worth, according to The Wall Street Journal, which cited the analysis by Gabriel Zucman, an economist at the University of California, Berkeley and the Paris School of Economics. And the pace at which these uber-rich households grow their share of the country's wealth is significantly increasing. In 1982, the top 0.00001% of Americans controlled 0.1% of total US wealth. It took four decades to grow that share to 1.2% in 2023, according to Zucman. 5 The top 0.00001% of Americans controlled 1.8% of total US wealth last year, according to an analysis. Overall, the broad-based S&P 500 soared 23%, the tech-heavy Nasdaq skyrocketed 28% and the blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 13%. The number of billionaires has grown as well. There were nearly 1,990 billionaires last year, up from 1,370 in 2021, according to JPMorgan Chase's private bank estimates. The top 1% in the UK, meanwhile, held 21.3% of the wealth; in France, they controlled 27.2%; and in Germany, 27.6%. All other wealth groups in the US have seen their shares of total wealth shrink over time.

Global Champions Arabians Tour debuts on the sands of Miami Beach
MIAMI: The Global Champions Arabians Tour, the world's premier Arabian horse championship series, made its debut in Miami with a star-studded event held from April 17-19. For the latest updates, follow us @ArabNewsSport The event was the second stage of the GCAT Americas series and delivered a dazzling display of world-class Arabian horse excellence, international glamour, and signature Miami Beach luxury. Over the course of three days, the event welcomed guests including VIPs, industry leaders, and international media. Set against the Atlantic shoreline, the event transformed Miami Beach into an equestrian stage, welcoming more 100 horses and handlers from around the globe to compete for GCAT points and a share of the Americas circuit's $2.7 million prize fund. Categories were judged on type, head and neck, body, legs, and movement. In the grand finale on Saturday evening the following horses captured Gold Championship titles: Senior stallions: Tasheem PMA, owned by Theresa Lungwitz – Royal T Arabians, USA Senior mares: Exxaltress, owned by Orrion Farms, USA Junior colts: STA High Voltaj, owned by Al Wajba Stud, Qatar Junior fillies: Ibitsam Aljassimya, owned by Al Jassimya Farm, USA Yearling colts: Masarat, owned by Orrion Farms, USA Yearling fillies: Rohara Aria Heiress, owned by The Aria Partners, USA The closing ceremony featured aerial performances, immersive lighting, and live entertainment, with a performance of 'All I do is Win' by DJ Khaled. 'The Miami Beach stage has exceeded all expectations,' said Faleh Al Nasr, chairman of the Global Champions Arabians Tour. 'We've brought the passion and artistry of Arabian horses to a global audience here, in a city that embraces culture, elegance, and excellence.' On Thursday evening, 17-time Grammy Award-winning artist Sting gave a beachfront performance that drew a crowd of notables including Jeff Bezos, DJ Khaled, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Lisa Hochstein, Julia Lemigova, and Kiki Barth from 'Real Housewives of Miami', Jon Vilma, businessman Michael Cayre, Etienne Sabino, Emily Austin, Jamie Reuben, Mario Carbone, Jeff Zalaznick, and more. Meanwhile Saturday featured a performance from Miami's own Flo Rida and drew appearances from DJ Khaled, Jeremy Piven, Terrence J, model Karolina Kurkova, Martina Navratilova, Bethenny Frankel, Alexia Nepola, Alexis Stoudamire, and Mayor of Miami Francis Suarez. Sting is a tough act to follow, but one rap legend gave it his best shot Saturday night in Miami Beach. That would be Flo Rida, who closed out the Global Champions Arabians Tour in Miami Beach with a blowout concert. The tour is an event that showcases purebred Arabian horses and gives awards to the best horses and best handlers. The event, hosted by Quatar Airways, is obviously some next-level, one-percent kind of fun, and this year was its debut in Miami. But it appears the international elite like to 'get low.' The Miami Gardens hip-hopper sang hit after hit on an elevated stage as dancers jumped around in sync on the sand. Flo's set included such classics as 'Club Can't Handle Me,' 'Wild Ones,' 'Right Round,' and, of course, 'Low.' At the end of the dazzling fireworks show, amid laser beams shooting into the sky, DJ Khaled popped up for a surprise performance of 'All I Do is Win.'
