‘Not that happy': US tariffs on China were forcing the Chinese to ‘sacrifice a great deal'
Curtin University Dean of Global Futures Joe Siracusa says US President Donald Trump's tariffs on China were forcing the country to 'sacrifice a great deal'. 'In China … it's got problems with its cities, it's got problems with unemployment, it has factories closing down, it's got a property crisis,' Mr Siracusa told Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power. 'The Chinese are not that happy about life. 'President Xi could force the Chinese to sacrifice a great deal or more than President Trump, who only has three and a half years to run.'

Trump tries to ‘stop the bleeding' between India and Pakistan
Curtin University Professor of Global Futures Joe Siracusa has spoken on US President Donald Trump increasing trade with both India and Pakistan, calling it the 'carrot part of the stick'. 'President has actually very vigorously interceded in this brief war between Pakistan and India, and he's offering them, particularly Pakistan, more trade and maybe better tariffs positioning for India,' Mr Siracusa told Sky News Australia. 'He's trying to stop the bleeding. 'This is a proper use of American diplomacy.'
