Queenstown's Amisfield Makes Yet Another World's Best Restaurants List
Fine dining restaurant Amisfield in Queenstown has been named in the acclaimed The World's 50 Best Restaurants 51-100 list for 2025, making it the first time its panel has recognised a restaurant in New Zealand. Amisfield ranked 99th on the list, which will be fully revealed, including the currently unknown top 50, at an awards ceremony in Turin, Italy, on June 19. Executive chef Vaughan Mabee, who has been with the restaurant since 2012, said being named on the list is an 'extraordinary honour — not just for Amisfield, but for New Zealand." 'It marks a defining moment in our journey and a proud milestone for our team. This is a recognition of the years of hard work, creativity, and belief that have gone into building something truly reflective of this place. I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved together, and I hope this brings a global spotlight on the whole of Aotearoa's unique cuisine,' Mabee told Viva. The announcement adds to the restaurant's growing number of accolades. In April, the restaurant placed third in Food & Wine's third-annual Global Tastemakers Awards. It was named Restaurant of the Year in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 by the Cuisine Good Food Awards. Mabee was awarded the Innovation Award at the Cuisine Good Food Awards in 2022 and 2024, and Cuisine Magazine named him Chef of the Year 2019/2020. The extended list of 51-100 includes restaurants in 25 territories and 37 cities across six continents. Europe boasts 20 restaurants in the list, with Germany grabbing four spots. There are 12 new entries from 12 different cities, ranging from São Paulo and San Francisco to Macau and Tulum. Since 2002, the World's 50 Best Restaurants annual list has aimed to celebrate the tapestry of the global culinary scene. This year, restaurants were voted for by 1120 international restaurant industry experts and 'well-travelled gourmets'.

This Fort Collins cold case is bringing the Crime Junkie podcast to Denver
DENVER (KDVR) — A popular podcast coming to Denver chose a decades-old cold case from Fort Collins to highlight on their tour. At each tour stop for the 'Life Rule #10 Tour,' the Crime Junkie podcast is highlighting the same cold case, and the case chosen is the 1987 murder of Peggy Hettrick that's still unsolved. With more than 5 million listeners per episode and 1.5 billion downloads, this case is now gaining some major attention. Global Tastemakers Awards: DIA among best US airports for food and drink Talking about a cold case on the tour was important to the hosts, Ashley Flowers and Brit Prawat. 'It was important to us to choose cases where we can use our platform to make change happen and this felt like a good case to do that with,' Prawat said. Peggy Hettrick was murdered on Feb 11, 1987, in Fort Collins. She was found stabbed in the back in an open field along Landings Drive. The case was handled by Fort Collins police and prosecuted by the 8th Judicial District. It's been said the case was mishandled and investigators had tunnel vision for their suspect. 'Immediately, the main suspect was a 15-year-old kid named Tim Masters who didn't have a lot of evidence against him, but eventually by the mid-90s the district attorney thought he had enough and took him to trial and he was convicted,' Prawat said. Masters spent nearly 10 years in prison before his conviction was overturned in 2008 thanks to new DNA evidence. The case was turned over to the Attorney General's office after the wrongful conviction. A new investigation was launched, but even then, it didn't produce any new leads. That's why Flowers and Prawat felt Peggy's case was perfect for their tour. 'She was a woman who had dreams and ambitions and goals and people who loved her and people she loved. By humanizing victims in the way that we like to do it makes our listenership more passionate. You're able to see your mom, see yourself, see your sister, see your loved ones in that victim,' Prawat said. This Colorado company is considered one of Fortune's best places to work in 2025 But their efforts are going a step further. At the end of each show, they have a QR code that sends a letter directly to Attorney General Phil Weiser's office urging him to reopen the case. Weiser's office sent FOX31 the following statement in regard to the case and the podcast's efforts. 'Peggy Hettrick was murdered on February 11, 1987. The case was originally investigated by the Fort Collins Police and prosecuted by the District Attorney's Office in the 8th Judicial District. New DNA evidence led to the exoneration of the person who was convicted of the murder. In 2008, then-Governor Ritter assigned the investigation and any new prosecution to a former attorney general. A team of experienced investigators and prosecutors opened a statewide grand jury and conducted a thorough investigation. Regretfully, the new investigation that began in 2008 did not develop into a chargeable case. Justice for Peggy Hettrick, and her family and friends, continues to be important to the attorney general's office. This is now considered a cold case but remains an open investigation. As a result, in would be inappropriate to comment further.' Attorney General Phil Weiser's Office The tour stops at the Bellco Theatre this Sunday and there are still tickets available online. Read more from The Denver Guide Flowers and Prawat's only goal is to get answers and bring some justice for her family. 'My ultimate goal is that the case is reopened and that people are investigated. We get a charge and eventually a conviction. That's the closest thing to justice that Peggy will ever get and she and her family deserve that.' Brit said. Why this East Tennessee hotel made the top of Food & Wine's list as the best for food and drink
Blackberry Farm has added another prestigious award to its growing collection. The five-star resort recently topped Food & Wine Magazine's list of top 10 U.S. hotels for food and drink as part of the 2025 Global Tastemakers Awards. It is the only Tennessee hotel to make the list. Of course, Blackberry Farm is no newcomer to the world of Food & Wine accolades. It won the same Global Tastemakers Award in 2024. Before that, Food & Wine Magazine gave the hotel an award for being one of the top 50 cheesemakers in the U.S. in 2022. With this most recent honor, Food & Wine recognized Blackberry Farm for its impressive reserve of whisky and wine, around 150,000 bottles in the wine collection and 300-plus whiskies. Of course, the top dining attribution is also thanks to the property's rotating special events and restaurants. The resort also offers top-tier dining at all three restaurants on the property: The Barn, The Main House and The Dogwood. The Barn is a James Beard Award-winning restaurant run by executive chef Cassidee Dabney. Blackberry Farm is a luxury resort hotel in Walland, Tennessee. The property is situated in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains and is just an hour away from Gatlinburg. The resort is a 45-minute drive from Knoxville. Getting a seat at a Blackberry Farm table as an outside guest is difficult. The Barn, for example, is not offering any reservations to guests not staying at the resort until winter 2025, according to Blackberry Farm.
