China, Malaysia hold events to deepen cultural ties
As Chinese President Xi Jinping embarked on a state visit to Malaysia on Tuesday, a cultural exchange event between the two sides was held in Kuala Lumpur on the same day. The event, hosted by China Media Group (CMG), aimed to deepen cultural ties while enhancing people-to-people level exchanges between the two countries. The event drew more than 200 prominent figures from political, business, cultural, academic and media circles from both China and Malaysia. Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of CMG, delivered a speech, highlighting the longstanding friendship between China and Malaysia and the role CMG has played documenting that relationship. In recent years, CMG has expanded its cooperation with Malaysian media partners to launch joint programs such as "Our Story" and "Global Watch," which all depicted the development journeys and mutual support between the two countries, Shen said. "CMG stands ready to work hand in hand with our Malaysian friends to write a new chapter in China-Malaysia cultural exchanges and contribute further to the building of a closer China-Malaysia community with a shared future," he added. Chang Lih Kang, minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Malaysia, congratulated CMG on the success of the event and reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral relationship. Under the strategic guidance of our two leaders, Malaysia and China will continue to write new chapters of win-win cooperation, said Chang. During the event, CMG signed multiple cooperation agreements with Malaysian partners in areas including academic exchanges, media collaboration, personnel visits and think tank research. A series of new China-Malaysia media cooperation initiatives were also launched, hoping to tell stories of cultural exchange, shared prosperity, and people-to-people bonds between the two nations.
