Convicted felon arrested in Naperville on charges he was driving 4 loaded guns
A convicted felon has been charged with unlawful gun possession after Naperville police found several loaded firearms in his car, including one with a 50-round drum magazine and another converted into an automatic weapon, officials said. Marcus Carroll, 30, of Calumet City, was pulled over on a traffic stop about 2 a.m. Saturday at Aurora Avenue and South Route 59 after police spotted a handgun inside his car while it had been parked, a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office and Naperville Police Department said. Officers recovered the Glock 43 9mm gun with a 50-round drum magazine they'd initially seen on the floorboard behind the front passenger seat. The weapon had been moved to beneath the driver's seat, where it was 'uncased, loaded and immediately accessible,' the release said. During a search of the vehicle, police also found a backpack containing a Glock 23 .40-caliber gun with a switch rendering it fully automatic, a Springfield Hellcat 9mm gun and a Glock 19 9mm gun. All four weapons were loaded with one round in the chamber, the release said. Carroll was charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a weapon by a repeat felony offender, a class X felony, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, a class 2 felony. DuPage County Associate Judge Christine Cody granted the prosecution's motion that Carroll be held at the county jail pending trial, the release said. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 23. 'With a history of multiple felony convictions, including armed robbery with a firearm and vehicular hijacking, Mr. Carroll is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm,' State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. 'The allegation that he was in possession of four loaded weapons, one with a 50-round drum and another that had been modified to allow it to fire fully automatic, are extremely troubling,' he said.

The Brief Marcus Carroll, a convicted felon from Calumet City, was arrested in Naperville after police found four loaded guns in his vehicle during a traffic stop. Among the weapons was a Glock modified to fire fully automatic and another equipped with a 50-round drum, according to prosecutors. Carroll, who faces two felony gun charges, will remain in custody until his next court appearance on June 23. NAPERVILLE, Ill. - A Cook County convicted felon accused of illegally having four loaded firearms on him during a traffic stop in Naperville will remain in custody ahead of trial, authorities said. What we know Marcus Carroll, 30, of Calumet City, appeared in court last weekend on one count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a repeat felony offender, a Class X felony, and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, a Class 2 felony, according to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. The charges stem from a traffic stop shortly after 2 a.m. on May 24, when police say they observed Carroll's vehicle commit multiple traffic violations. During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly found a loaded Glock 43 under the driver's seat, which was "immediately accessible," prosecutors said. A partially unzipped backpack on the back seat contained three more loaded firearms: a Glock 23 modified to fire fully automatic, a Springfield Hellcat 9mm, and a Glock 19 9mm. One of the weapons was equipped with a 50-round drum, according to the state's attorney. Carroll was taken into custody at the scene. What they're saying "The safety of DuPage County residents remains the top priority of my office," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said. "With a history of multiple felony convictions, including armed robbery with a firearm and vehicular hijacking, Mr. Carroll is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm. The allegation that he was in possession of four loaded weapons, one with a fifty-round drum and another that had been modified to allow it to fire fully automatic, are extremely troubling. Once again, I commend the Naperville Police Department for their vigilant and observant police work that has again led to the removal of dangerous weapons from our streets and quite possibly prevented a future tragedy. I also thank Assistant State's Attorneys Heather Misura and Anna Derkacz for their work in securing charges against Mr. Carroll." "This incident exemplifies the proactive efforts of our officers in identifying and addressing individuals who pose a serious threat to public safety. Recovering a single illegally possessed firearm from a vehicle is troubling; recovering four is deeply concerning," Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres said. "I commend the officers involved for their courage and dedication in willingly entering a potentially dangerous situation to protect our community. I also extend my sincere appreciation to DuPage County State's Attorney Bob Berlin and his office for their continued partnership and diligent work on this case." What's next Carroll is scheduled to return to court on June 23.

A$AP Rocky Gets Criminal Case Record Sealed After Acquittal
A$AP Rocky has lots to celebrate. He was a co-chair of the Met Gala in Manhattan Monday night, where he and Rihanna announced they're expecting their third child together. He's also starring in the new Spike Lee movie Highest 2 Lowest opposite Denzel Washington. And in a courtroom in downtown Los Angeles on Monday, a judge granted his petition to seal his criminal case records after he was found not guilty of charges he brandished and fired a semiautomatic pistol at a former friend. Rocky's high-powered lawyer Joe Tacopina confirms to Rolling Stone that the criminal case was sealed in response to a petition from the defense filed shortly after the Feb. 18, acquittal. 'Suffice it to say that yesterday was a very good day for the family as the sealing came on a day in which other great news was announced,' Tacopina says, referring to both the new ruling and the pregnancy reveal. Rocky's April 2022 arrest is also no longer visible on the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department website. Rocky, born Rakim Mayers, has a separate 'motion for DNA expungement' set for October, according to a court scheduling service. Mayers, 36, was acquitted after a three-week trial during which his accuser, former friend Terell 'A$AP Relli' Ephron, testified. Ephron claimed Mayers threatened him with a Glock 43 near a parking garage outside the W Hollywood hotel on Nov. 6, 2021 and then opened fire on him at a nearby street corner, grazing his left hand amid a verbal dispute. Throughout the trial, Tacopina attacked Ephron's credibility and said Mayers was only carrying a prop gun that night, as a deterrent. He said the prop gun was procured from the set of the 'D.M.B' music video Mayers shot with Rihanna in July 2021. As soon as the first of two 'not guilty' verdicts was announced on Feb. 18, Rocky dove over a short gallery wall, directly into Rihanna's lap. He hugged her as she embraced him with her eyes closed. About a dozen supporters erupted in loud cheers. The rapper then hugged his lawyers and addressed the jurors as they departed, telling them, 'Thank you all for saving my life. Thank you. Thank you for making the right decision.' A juror who spoke with Rolling Stone after the acquittal said not all jurors were on the same page when they took their first vote in the deliberating room that morning. But it didn't take long once they focused on issues with the evidence, she said. 'We spent a lot of time discussing the concept of reasonable doubt, and the chain of evidence that was provided to us, setting aside personalities,' the juror, who asked to remain anonymous, told Rolling Stone. 'It was fundamentally about reasonable doubt.' Ephron is still pursuing an assault and battery lawsuit against Mayers involving the same incident. The next hearing in the civil case is set for May 22. A non-jury trial is set for Jan. 12, 2026.
