Turnstile Play First Show of 2025 at Free Baltimore Benefit Concert

Turnstile returned to their hometown of Baltimore over the weekend with a powerful purpose. The Grammy-nominated hardcore band staged a free benefit concert on Saturday (May 10) at Wyman Park Dell, drawing thousands of fans and raising over $35,000 for charity. The event marked the band's first live performance in nearly a year and served as a high-energy preview of their upcoming album Never Enough, out June 6 via Roadrunner Records, which includes recently released singles 'SEEIN' STARS' and 'BIRDS'. Fans traveled across the country to attend the 16-acre event, which featured moshing, crowd-surfing and sing-alongs. QR codes throughout the park allowed fans to donate to Health Care for the Homeless, which offers medical, dental, therapy and addiction support services to Baltimore's most vulnerable populations. Kevin Feldt, senior director of institutional advancement at the organization, told the Baltimore Banner that the event gave them 'the opportunity to share our mission with thousands.' The band financed the show entirely on their own, with help from Unregistered Nurse Booking founder Dana Murphy and a team of more than 60 people. Turnstile will play a record release show June 5 in Brooklyn, N.Y., before going on a more extensive tour including festival stops at Primavera Sound, Glastonbury, Ottawa Blues and III Points, among others. The event follows the announcement last month of the band's new album — its first in four years following the highly acclaimed, Grammy-nominated Glow On — and the release of the Never Enough title track. While Mike Elizondo (Linkin Park, Fiona Apple, Eminem) produced the last record, frontman Brendan Yates takes the production reins on the new album, which was recorded between the band's hometown of Baltimore and Los Angeles. Billboard named Turnstile's Glow On one of the best albums of 2021, placing it at No. 27 on the list. The record also debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at No. 30. Turnstile, Hardcore Punk's Breakout Band, Can't Be Contained

On a nostalgic drive through Turnstile's Baltimore hometown last month, the band's workaholic frontman, Brendan Yates, pointed out an empty lot that looked like the eroded remnants of a loading dock where the band once played a show. A few days later, on a giant stage in the California desert, Charli XCX proclaimed it would be a 'Turnstile Summer' on a huge screen during her Coachella set. Over the past 15 years, Turnstile has blown up from local hardcore heroes to one of the most popular punk bands of its era. Though the group emerged from a world of aggressive music, it cycles through genres — dream-pop, alternative rock — often over the course of one song. That chaos, along with a striking emotional depth, is in its ethos. 'There is something exciting about being able to make music in a way where there's no formula, there's no expectation,' Yates, 36, said. The band's 2021 album, 'Glow On,' propelled it from the upper echelons of the underground into a dramatically larger landscape that included TV commercials, Grammy nominations and a spot opening for Blink-182's arena tour. With a new album, 'Never Enough,' due June 6, Turnstile is pushing its sound further, and the stages are set to get even bigger, leading to an inevitable question: Can the group retain its magic (and its mission) as it grows? In the late afternoon, four of the band's five members jammed into the guitarist Pat McCrory's car for a drive soundtracked by a Robert Palmer deep cut and a lot of sighs about the ongoing gentrification of Baltimore. They stopped at Red Thorn Tattoo, and were surprised to find it closed. Yates, McCrory, the drummer Daniel Fang and the bassist Franz Lyons, outfitted in a selection of hoodies and baseball caps, peered through the window. (Meg Mills, a new addition who plays guitar, was back home in the United Kingdom.)

Turnstile Announce New Album ‘Never Enough,' Alongside New Single

Turnstile band members left to right: Daniel Fang (Drums), Franz Lyons (Bass), Brendan Yates (Voice ... More / Synth / Keys ), Meg Mills (Guitar), and Pat McCrory (Guitar). After a long four years the critically acclaimed hardcore punk band Turnstile, has returned with the follow up to their sensational grammy nominated 2021 LP, Glow On. Never Enough is the newly announced fourth studio album from the Baltimore outfit, and it's set to release on June 6th. According to a press release, the album was recorded between Los Angeles and the band members' homes in Baltimore, and the album was produced by Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates. Alongside the album announcement, Turnstile has released the title track and very single for the upcoming LP. Stylistically the new single sounds very similar to what Turnstile did on Glow On, though with notably more melancholic synthesizers and melodic vocals. The soaring guitar solo midway through the track is also nice touch to what's overall a very familiar, yet satisfying first single from the band. Additionally, the cinematography from the new video is incredible and it's very reminiscent to the art-house aesthetics the band showcased on Glow On – Turnstile's Brendan Yates has not only produced the upcoming album but he directed the band's latest video alongside guitarist Pat McCrory. By the end of the video for 'Never Enough," it looks as if Turnstile are teasing another video for what'll likely be the second single for this upcoming album. If the band is keeping with the themes from Glow On, then it's likely they could have another short-film in the works for their upcoming LP, similar to what they did with "TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION." As far as modern rock goes, Turnstile are at the top of everyone's most anticipated LPs for this year, given how widely successful the band's 2021 album was. It'll be interesting to see how the band can build up from what they did on Glow On, while still delivering something unique. 'Never Enough' seems to fit that criteria quite well, but hopefully the band still has some songs that deliver their signature breakdowns and hooky guitar riffs. Speaking of guitar, the band has also recruited a new member, guitarist Meg Mills (Big Cheese, Chubby & The Gang). Mills permanently joined the band near the end of the tour cycle for Glow On, replacing co-founder Brady Ebert who left the band in August of 2022. Apart from a few festival appearances slated for this summer, Turnstile has yet to announce a 2025 tour for their upcoming album. Below are all the festival dates the band is set to perform later this year: JUN 07 - Barcelona, Spain - Primavera Sound 2025 JUN 13 - London, United Kingdom - Outbreak Fest London 2025 JUN 14 - Porto, Portugal - Primavera Sound Porto 2025 JUN 21 - Clisson, France - Hellfest 2025 JUN 28 - Ysselsteyn, Netherlands - Jera On Air 2025 JUN 29 - Somerset, United Kingdom - Glastonbury Festival 2025 JUL 12 - Ottawa, Canada - Ottawa Blues Festival 2025 OCT 03 - Sacramento, CA - Aftershock 2025
