Man dies from suspected overdose, 2 arrested on drug charges

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — Two men have been arrested on drug charges after an investigation into a suspected overdose death. Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) officers responded to the Friendly Express Gas Station on Perry Road around 10 p.m. Thursday for a death investigation. Officers found a dead man inside a company box truck. Two individuals identified as Willie Thomas and Jamie Schneider, both residents of North Carolina, were present at the scene. As part of the investigation, officers recovered suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and fentanyl, along with a stolen Glock handgun, a digital scale and a glass smoking device commonly associated with narcotics use from the truck. After interviews, Willie Thomas and Jamie Schneider were arrested and taken to the local detention center. Thomas is charged three possession of schedule ii substance, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Jamie Schneider is charged with theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The deceased man is suspected to have died from a drug overdose, a GCPD spokesperson said. His body was reportedly transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab for a full autopsy to determine the official cause of death. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. 3 arrested on several drug charges in Glynn County

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) — Three people were arrested on several drug charges following a traffic stop in Glynn County Wednesday. Around 2:15 a.m., Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) officers stopped a car in the 5400 block of New Jesup Highway for a reported traffic violation. Officers found a loaded Glock handgun and several types of drugs, a spokesperson said. Officers reportedly seized marijuana, fentanyl, methamphetamine, gabapentin, tramadol and oxycodone tablets during the stop. Police arrested 28-year-old Tamieka Nicole Andsley, 24-year-old Leroy Johnson and 37-year-old Anturiuos Kendell Johnson-Jones. All three are charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, trafficking in schedule II-controlled substance, two counts of possession of schedule II-controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of schedule IV-controlled substance with the intent to distribute and possession of dangerous drug. Johnson is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a certain crimes. Glynn County police are looking for a missing 13-year-old boy who has autism. Michael Williams, 13, was last seen at around 9 p.m. Monday in the Myers Hill Road area, a Glynn County police news release states. Michael is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 98 pounds. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt, bright-colored Hawaiian shorts, and blue Crocs, the news release states. Man accused of shooting at woman, young children at southeast Georgia hotel

The Glynn County Police Department said a man was in custody, accused of shooting a woman at the start of Memorial Day Weekend that left a woman in the hospital. According to police, Brandon Betts, 32 of Brunswick, fired a shotgun at a woman, her 9-year-old and 7-year-old children and a man at the Royal Inn Hotel. Officers said they were called to the scene around 9:43 p.m. and found the victim with a gunshot wound in the lower stomach near her hip. Police said they immediately rendered first aid until medical first responders arrived and she was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System's Brunswick Campus. While investigating the incident, police identified Betts as the suspect. Officers said "it was determined that Betts had fired multiple shots from a shotgun in the direction of the victim, her two children—ages 9 and 7—and an additional adult male." Police took him into custody on Friday evening and he faces charges for: Four counts of Aggravated Assault One count of Possession of a Firearm or Knife During the Commission of or Attempt to Commit a Crime Police said there may be additional charges.
