He said: 'Lindsey's departure was traumatic and a major change for the band, but we decided we wanted to carry on. We made the decision together. "Of course, we could have just stopped and it probably would have been an easy point to stop, but we definitely didn't want to. Fleetwood Mac's Hit Reaches A New Peak — Again — Decades After Its Heyday
Fleetwood Mac maintains a constant presence on charts in most Western markets every week. The group sometimes sees multiple albums and singles appear on busy rankings, and some frames are busier than others. At the present, in the United Kingdom – where some of the band's members first broke into the music industry – a handful of full-lengths from the beloved pop-rock outfit are growing, and one compilation even manages to return. But fans aren't just focusing on albums. Listeners are buying and, especially, streaming three tunes in particular — and one of them is enjoying its biggest week ever on a very competitve ranking. 'The Chain' climbs this frame on the Official Streaming chart, the U.K.'s roster that focuses on the most-played tracks across streaming platforms in the nation. This time around, the cut jumps from No. 89 to No. 82. That might not seem like a particularly lofty position, but it is for a decades-old song. In fact, it's the highest position it has ever reached in the 12 weeks – a surprisingly small length of time – on the list. This frame is actually the third in a row in which 'The Chain' has established a new best showing on the Official Streaming chart. Several periods ago, it rose from No. 99 to No. 90. Then, just a few days later, it improved to No. 89 — just one spot, but a notable move. Now, it's surged again by seven positions, hitting a new all-time peak once more. While it may be on the rise, 'The Chain' remains Fleetwood Mac's lowest-peaking single on the Official Streaming chart. It's one of only four tracks by the band to reach the roster, which is also rather surprising, given how many smashes the group has produced – ones which continue to power various albums and compilations to this day. 'Dreams' leads the way, as it has previously risen to No. 27. It's followed by 'Everywhere' with a peak of No. 41 and 'Go Your Own Way,' which topped out at No. 76. At the moment, 'The Chain' can only be found on the Official Streaming chart, but both 'Dreams' and 'Everywhere' are growing on multiple lists. Those two tracks not only lift on the Official Streaming tally, but also on the Official Singles chart, the 100-spot ranking of the most consumed songs throughout the country. That list measures popularity by blending both streaming activity and sales. In addition to the trio of tunes, three full-lengths by Fleetwood Mac appear on the charts in the U.K. as well, and each of them lands on multiple tallies. Rumours is the band's only traditional studio LP to appear, and it lives on five rankings this time around. Greatest Hits returns to two lists after not showing up on any last week, while 50 Years – Don't Stop is present inside the top five on two different lists. It even reaches a new all-time peak on the Official Albums chart, the most important and competitive albums ranking in the nation.

People are just realising what the band name Fleetwood Mac means after 58 years
When it comes to music, Fleetwood Mac are a band that has played a big part in a lot of people's lives. The British-American rock band, who formed in London in 1967, was put together by guitarist and singer Peter Green. Over 50 years later, the group have sold more than 120 million records worldwide, which ranks them as one of the world's best-selling bands. Even so, it seems that after all this time, some people still don't know the meaning behind their name - especially if they've become fans later down the line. On Reddit , lots of music fans talk about the iconic group, known for hits such as "Dreams" and "Go Your Own Way", however it seems they're always learning something new about the band. On Quora, another person asked: "How did Fleetwood Mac get their name?" The simple question generated a host of replies. Fleetwood Mac perform onstage during the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival (Image: Getty Images for iHeartMedia) One replied: "Fleetwood Mac got their name from a combination of the last names of two of its founding members, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. The band was originally formed in 1967 as a blues band led by Peter Green, and they were initially called 'Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac'. The name was later shortened to simply 'Fleetwood Mac'." Another suggested: "Peter Green, the lead guitarist at the time in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers was given by John Mayall studio time, as a gift to do with whatever he wanted. He made the instrumental recording of the song 'Fleetwood Mac' with Mick Fleetwood & John McVie, the drummer and bass player respectively at the time in The Bluesbreakers." However, if you didn't know how the band got its name, you may be surprised to learn it's actually quite simple how it all came together. Green actually named the band by combining the surnames of drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie - two musicians who remained with the band throughout its various line-up changes. If you knew the founding members were called Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, you'd probably guess where the band got its name from, but the idea to merge the rhythm sections' names actually took a little while to develop. Christine McVie (L) and Stevie Nicks of music group Fleetwood Mac (Image: Getty Images) The story goes it all began when co-founder Peter Green replaced Eric Clapton in John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, which also comprised of Fleetwood and McVie. Then a name for the new band came about after Peter, Mick and John started recording songs - something which John Mayall reportedly gave them space to do. During these recording sessions, one song turned out to be a sprawling instrumental and it was dubbed "Fleetwood Mac" due to the vital contributions of the drummer and bassist, with Mac being a shortened version of McVie. Later, Green suggested using it to name the band itself, and the idea soon stuck. However, despite inspiring the moniker, Green was the first to leave the band. By the time they reached the mid-'70s, the group had altered quite a bit, and added Christine McVie - then Christine Perfect. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks later concluded what would be the enduring line-up. As many people know, it wasn't always full of joy though, as the five piece ended up turning their affairs, break-ups and utter heartbreak into major music with their iconic album Rumours in 1977.

Gareth Gates now from Katie Price romp to money woes and hair transplant
Pop Idol star Gareth Gates, 40, is completely unrecognisable to the spiky-haired teen who turned his back on fame after a fling with Katie Price and has a whole new career Pop Idol 2002 was the year of the brave – Will Young famously shut down Simon Cowell 's criticism of his "average" performance, and 16-year-old Gareth Gates overcame his stammer to showcase his incredible talent. Born in Bradford, Gareth showed an early passion for music. He joined the Bradford Cathedral Choir at the age of nine and achieved grade eight in piano, classical guitar, and singing. After finishing as the runner-up to Will, now 46, on the ITV competition, Gareth's debut single, Unchained Melody, soared to number one and was certified double platinum. His next two singles also hit the top of the charts, and Smash Hits even declared October 7, 2002, as International Gareth Gates Day in his honour. But fame is a fickle beast, and Gareth's second album Go Your Own Way dropped down to number 32 after just one week. And his reputation harshly took a beating when it emerged that he'd lost his virginity to a pregnant Katie Price after he was spotted sneaking out of her hotel room on CCTV. Gareth insisted they hadn't hooked up at first, but later admitted: "I denied the whole Jordan thing because I was 17, I didn't want my family to find out about my sex life." And the fall-out even saw him turn his back on fame. "It wasn't too long after that I decided to take a break from the industry," he once told New! magazine. "It wasn't the reason I wanted to be a pop star. There are stars out there who are out there for the wrong reasons. I wanted to be recognised for my talent." As for Katie, 46, she confessed that she was looking for love in all the wrong places. 'It's terrible – I was still young, I was pregnant, I didn't have the dad about and I still wanted to be loved," she previously said. 'It was wrong when I look back. It was over in seconds!' Gareth was let go by his record label, Sony BMG, in 2006 while working on a third album, Pictures of the Other Side, which he later released under UMTV, but that too failed to make an impact. However, he found the perfect platform for his talent in musical theatre, and has since forged an extremely successful stage career for himself. The star has performed in everything from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat to Les Mis, Legally Blonde and Boogie Nights. And in 2013 he teamed up with Dane Bowers, Adam Rickitt, Blazin' Squad star Kenzie and singer Kavana to form a 'super group' for ITV documentary, The Big Reunion. Gareth met his future wife Suzanne Mole when she was a dancer at the Record of the Year Awards in 2002. They married in 2008 and their daughter Missy was born the following year. But in 2012, the pair announced their split with Gareth explaining they had 'grown apart'. He told The Mirror: "Despite our efforts over the past three years to make our marriage work, sadly Suzanne and I have decided to separate. Whilst we have grown apart, we love and cherish our wonderful daughter Missy and together we will prioritise her happy upbringing." He subsequently dated Coronation Street actress Faye Brookes for almost seven years before they called off their engagement in 2019. Gareth went on to date DJ Chloe McLennan for two years, even moving in together before going their separate ways in December 2022. Now, he's loved up with West End star girlfriend, Allana Taylor. The pair met when they appeared in a pantomime production of Jack And The Beanstalk in 2022, and they made their relationship official on Instagram in July 2023. The singer-turned-actor has has spent six years transforming himself into a beefcake. Achieving his ripped body has been no mean feat. He works out for two hours a day and bench presses 120kg. To keep his body fuelled, he eats 4,000 calories but focuses on clean food and protein shakes. "It's taken me six years to get this body. I got into the gym when I was 30 and stopped partying," he told The Sun. "But in the last couple of years I've started to take my fitness really seriously. I would rather look good - and more importantly feel good - and be up for the gym than waste the day hungover.' While Gareth is in the best shape of his life, his finances took a hit to the eye-watering tune of £250,000. He unknowingly used a dodgy money trader to invest the princely sum but soon realised his money had been lost. "I'm more careful now as I got burnt once and lost £250,000," he told the Sunday Times last year. "I was a victim of that. I got nothing back and it was a big learning curve for me. I learnt a big lesson that I invested a little bit more than I possibly should have." And in 2017 Gareth addressed an issue that had been bothering him for some time - his thinning hair. The star underwent a hair transplant after years of struggling with hair loss. "I'm constantly on stage so image is a big, big thing for me and I have to look my best," he explained at the time. "I'm nervous but I'm really, really excited as well. I can't wait to get it done and lose all that self-consciousness about my hair thinning." As for Will - who he recorded a duet of The Beatles' Long and Winding Road with - he confirmed that they're still friends and always will be. "I keep in touch with Will. We went through a lot together. It was the first of its kind, well before X Factor and the likes, therefore we had no idea what this brand new format was about," he said in 2017. "We had no idea it was going to be as huge as it was and as life-changing. So we went through a lot together and as a result of that we're still good mates." Last year, Gareth was banned from driving for six months after pleading guilty to driving over the speed limit on 6 April 2024 his fourth offence in less than three years. Gareth was clocked by a speed camera doing 62mph in a 50mph zone on the M4 in Port Talbot, South Wales, in his three-year-old black Range Rover Sport but had been due to fight a potential ban by claiming he would experience "exceptional hardship". Gareth told the court he was a "one-man band, driving himself to engagements with his Range Rover full to the brim with equipment, musical instruments, clothes and outfits". However, he withdrew the claim and emailed Cardiff Magistrates Court asking for the case to be dealt with in his absence on Thursday. According to The Sun newspaper, District Judge Charlotte Murphy said: "Mr Gates has nine points on his license for three offences of speeding. He will be disqualified from driving for six months." The 'Unchained Melody' hitmaker was also fined £230, which was reduced to £153 as a result of his guilty plea. Gareth previously faced a driving ban in 2017 after again clocking up points from four speeding offences.
