Football festival brings together 120 young players
The final Girls' Primary Football Festival of the school year took place on June 20, at the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Caerphilly.
It was held in honour of Wales Women's historic qualification for the UEFA Women's Euro competition and saw 120 girls from 12 primary schools across the borough take part.
Councillor Chris Morgan, cabinet member for leisure, said: "This festival was a brilliant way to bring young people together to celebrate a huge milestone for women's football in Wales.
"The enthusiasm and teamwork on show was fantastic, and events like this are a great example of how we can inspire the next generation to stay active and get involved in sport."
Each school represented a different country, with pupils and staff dressing up in themed kits and waving flags.
The day was supported by students from Coleg y Cymoedd who refereed and helped run the event.
Trophies were awarded for Player of the Day, Save of the Day, and Goal of the Day, but every participant received a medal.
The festival ended with a group photo and a cheer for Wales.
