Sligo Live festival announces The Máirtín O'Connor Trio with special guest Zoé Basha

Irish Trad heavyweights, The Máirtín O'Connor Trio will appear at Sligo Live Festival, with very special guest, Zoé Basha, in the Hawk's Well Theatre, Sunday 2nd November.
Formed in the early 2000s, The Máirtín O'Connor Trio has become a prominent force in traditional Irish music. With acclaimed albums 'Crossroads' and 'Going Places' they've toured globally, from the Sydney Opera House to New York's Symphony Space Centre, winning over audiences in Ireland, Britain, Europe, North America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Máirtín O'Connor Trio are a prominent force in traditional Irish music.
At the trio's core is Máirtín O'Connor, known for his time with De Danann and contributions to Riverdance. Cathal Hayden, is an All-Ireland champion on fiddle and banjo, with a founding role in Four Men and a Dog. Seamie O'Dowd, a versatile multi-instrumentalist with a notable career touring with groups like Dervish.
The Máirtín O'Connor Trio delivers a whirlwind tour of Irish musical traditions, pushing boundaries while staying rooted in tradition. Their remarkable performances and musical prowess have earned them accolades and a dedicated following, solidifying their place as Irish music pioneers on the global stage.
Zoé Basha's original pieces and traditional songs explore the crossover between the sway of Appalachian mountain songs, the fervour and solemn ornamentation of Irish traditional songs. After growing up between the U.S. and France, traveling by thumb, freight trains, and taking the scenic route with rust-bucket vans, she played music in the streets for years to sustain the journey.
Tickets for The Máirtín O'Connor Trio with Zoé Basha are €28.50 plus fees and will be available on-line from Thursday 14th August on or in person or by phone (071) 9161518 from the Hawk's Well box office.
