Fancy pasta and takeaway classics on offer as new restaurant opens doors
A Derbyshire high street has welcomed a new addition to its roster of shops that will offer a rare combination of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. South Derbyshire's Newhall has plenty to shout about when it comes to restaurants and takeaways, and its latest exploit is sure to go down a treat with locals.
The Grill at 7-9 High Street held a grand opening earlier this week and replaces the longstanding 'Golden Fish' fish and chip shop, which recently closed its doors after more than a decade in the village.
At The Grill, customers will be able to dine in, collect, or have food delivered, ranging from skewers and audacious sides to pasta dishes and wraps.

Its pasta dishes include Bolognese, carbonara, frutti di mare and risotto, sure to pair nicely with sides such as salt and pepper squid, garlic mushrooms and Greek savoury pastries. For those fancying something a little more Middle Eastern, and potentially with more of a kick, The Grill also stocks chicken tikka shish, lamb kofte skewers and lamb and chicken doner wraps.
Kids can also order a selection of smaller pasta dishes, as well as chicken nuggets and doner meat.
A spokesperson for The Grill said: "We believe food should be an experience — that's why every visit to The Grill is about more than just a meal.
"Our passion is in the details: warm hospitality, vibrant dishes, and an atmosphere that invites you to relax, indulge, and leave happy. Whether you're dining with family, friends, or flying solo, we make sure every bite feels like it's made just for you — always fresh, always with love.
"From juicy shawarma and sizzling skewers to hearty wraps and fresh salads, our menu celebrates the rich, diverse flavours of the Mediterranean and Middle East. Each plate is prepared with authentic spices, fresh ingredients, and that signature smoky finish straight from the grill.
"Come hungry and savour the warmth — every meal is served hot, made to order, and crafted to satisfy."
The restaurant is now taking deliveries, collections and table bookings and is open from 12pm to 10pm on Mondays and Wednesdays (closed Tuesdays), from 12pm to 10.30pm on Thursdays, from 12pm to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 4pm to 10pm on Sundays.
