Four ethnic tribes of India - Bhil, Gond, Baiga and Korku - have opened the doors of their intricately crafted homes for you at the Mahua Festival that begins today at Tribal Museum. At the specific homes dedicated to these tribes, you can gorge on lip-smacking delicacies, including mahua kheer, mahua laddu, dal paania, urad bade, mungode, paan roti etc. The event comes as a complete entertainment package brought to MP by culture centres of MP, Maharashtra and UP on the 12th foundation day of Tribal Museum, said curator of the museum Ashok Mishra. He shared, "Five-day Mahua fest will begin on Friday evening with a dance drama dedicated to erstwhile tribal king Hirakhan Singh Kshatri. From Saturday, there will be glorious dance, music presentations by tribals of 11 states and UTs. Explore the craft mela where you can shop for unique handcrafted beauties and live puppet shows." The curator went on to add, "Once Mahua fest is over, the tribal food festival will go on at tribal huts daily (except Mondays)."

Minister: Post summer vacation, schools to follow Covid norms
1 2 Bhubaneswar: In view of the rising Covid-19 cases, school and mass education minister Nityananda Gond said the state govt will enforce safety protocols in schools when they reopen later this month after the summer vacation. As many as 23 Covid cases have been recorded in Odisha in the last month (as of Wednesday). Gond said students and teachers need to remain cautious and alert. "All students and teachers will be asked to adhere to Covid-19 safety protocols when schools resume. The health and safety of the children is our top priority," Gond told media persons on Thursday. The school and mass education department will strictly follow the guidelines of the health department to ensure the safety of children. "Students and teachers will be asked to wear masks and those suffering from cold and cough or feeling unwell will be asked not to come to school. Teachers will be sensitised on Covid-19 protocols and safety guidelines," Gond said. The department will issue guidelines to all district education officers in the state soon to ensure strict adherence to hygiene protocols.

Baro Market returns to Hyderabad for an exhibition at Crafts Council of Telangana
A sense of déjà vu tends to set in when pop-up exhibitions crop up every other week at cultural spaces and stores across Hyderabad. To stand out, a curation must offer products that are not easily found online or in local markets. That is where Baro Market comes in. The Mumbai-based marketplace for arts and crafts, founded by Srila Chatterjee, is known for its thoughtful and context-specific pop-ups. From June 5 to 7, Baro Market returns to the Crafts Council of Telangana (CCT) in Banjara Hills with a curated exhibition of weaves, crafts and artisanal design. 'We work with close to 78 labels, but for Hyderabad, we are bringing just 27,' says Srila. 'There is a lot of thought behind what we choose. We avoid crafts from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh — those are already well-known here. Instead, we want to offer something new.' Expect to discover functional ceramics, jewellery, accessories, and clothing for men, women and children. Bengal, the North East and the Coromandel coast are well represented. Kolkata-based designer Sriparna Ray of Bhomra Design Co brings contemporary takes on traditional taant (a handloom technique that results in fine, lightweight fabric) and other weaves often associated with saris. From Assam, The Nomi – Weavers Nest, founded by Sushant Phukan, presents a North Eastern fashion perspective. Love by Kaveri, helmed by Kaveri Lalchand, draws inspiration from life along the Coromandel coast in her modern linen offerings. This will be Baro Market's second pop-up at CCT Spaces. This time, jewellery promises to be a draw. But even here, the intention is to avoid repetition. Each label brings its own lens: Razia Kung's statement pieces, influenced by Indian folk and tribal forms like Gond and Theyyam; Red Bus Design Co's handmade textile jewellery and resin works; Moirra's fabric accessories; and Vrinda Gokhale Philip's recycled paper jewellery. At the pop-up, keep an eye out for native foods too. Shillar House from Himachal Pradesh brings to Hyderabad a seasonal bounty — think pickles, pulses, spices, dried fruits, honey and ghee. 'Everything is organic, though they do not make a fuss about it,' Srila explains. Another standout addition is The Bindi Project, where the iconic embellished dot becomes a canvas for storytelling. Originally inspired by Rajasthan's heritage gold bindis, each new collection spins its own narrative. 'I think I have worn more of Meghna's bindis than anyone else on the planet,' laughs Srila, 'and there are plenty of takers for them.' MP: Pachmarhi Sanctuary to be named after Raja Bhabhoot Singh, says CM Yadav
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 3 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday announced to name the Pachmarhi Sanctuary after Gond ruler Raja Bhabhoot Singh, a symbol of the tribal community's bravery and valour. The CM also chaired a cabinet meeting at Raj Bhavan in Pachmarhi in memory of the Gond ruler and remembered his legacy. Ahead of the cabinet meeting, while addressing the council of ministers, the CM announced to rename the Pachmarhi Sanctuary 'The Pachmarhi Sanctuary will now be known as 'Raja Bhabhoot Singh Pachmarhi Sanctuary'. This renaming is dedicated to Raja Bhabhoot Singh's love for nature and his lifelong efforts to protect Pachmarhi from foreign forces. The sanctuary will also showcase details of Raja Bhabhoot Singh's life, his struggles, valour, and contributions. This move aims to enhance local pride and strengthen the identity of the sanctuary, making it a symbol of both historical and natural heritage,' the CM said. He also stated that Raja Bhabhoot Singh had a deep influence on the tribal society, and his tales of bravery still resonate in the public consciousness. Holding the cabinet meeting in Pachmarhi is a tribute to his legacy. Recalling Raja Bhabhut Singh's contributions, the Chief Minister said that he was a close ally of freedom fighter Tatya Tope during the 1857 War of Independence. Known for his guerrilla warfare tactics, Bhabhut Singh was referred to as the 'Shivaji of Narmadanchal.' The British had to summon the Madras Infantry to capture him. Despite constant battles against the British until 1860, they could only arrest him after two years and subsequently hanged him the same year. Additionally, CM announced that three tribal community conventions will be organized this month. The Baiga Convention at Bajag in Dindori on June 7, Kol Convention in Beohari, Shahdol on June 9 to mark Birsa Munda Jayanti, and Sahariya Convention in Kolaras, Shivpuri on June 18. He also informed that from June 9 to 21, state-wide events will be held to commemorate 11 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public welfare governance. Additionally, the birth centenary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee will be celebrated, who shared a special bond with Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister further noted that May was a month full of developmental achievements for Madhya Pradesh. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated new airports in Datia and Satna, and the Metro in Indore. He also released the first installment for the construction of 1,271 Atal Gram Good Governance Buildings. These milestones reflect the state's progress in development and welfare. Furthermore, CM Yadav shared that Khandwa district has set a national record in water conservation under the 'Water Conservation - Public Participation Campaign' for the period from April 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025. Khandwa ranked first in the country among districts, while Madhya Pradesh secured fourth place among states. This is a matter of pride for the state. The Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan is being run from March 30 to June 30, and the Chief Minister called upon all cabinet members to lead public awareness and participation in water conservation efforts in their respective regions. Days after the All India Congress Committee (AICC) appointed district observers to oversee the party's organisational revamp in Madhya Pradesh, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is set to lead a series of meetings in Bhopal as part of the Congress's 'Sangathan Srajan Abhiyan (Organisation Rejuvenation Campaign)' on Tuesday. The campaign, which had been approved by the Congress Working Committee (CWC) at a meeting in Karnataka's Belagavi in December 2024, aims to prepare the party ahead of the 2028 Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh. The move is part of a larger national effort to restructure the party's state units. On Tuesday, Gandhi will launch the campaign in Madhya Pradesh, where the Congress has been diminished since its government collapsed in 2020. The Congress suffered an overwhelming defeat in the 2023 Assembly polls, winning just 66 of the state's 234 seats. In the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP swept all 29 of the state's Parliamentary seats. 'The abhiyan is being launched to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level and instill enthusiasm among party workers. We have not been in power in Madhya Pradesh for a long time,' former state party chief Arun Yadav and ex-minister Sajjan Verma said on Monday. While in Bhopal, Gandhi will attend a meeting of the state Congress's Political Affairs Committee, followed by meetings with all party MPs and MLAs from the state, observers appointed both by the AICC and the state unit. He will also attend a party convention with members of the state committee, district and block presidents, and AICC members. Gandhi's visit comes just over a week after the state Congress launched a pilot project in the Vidisha district to restructure the party from the grassroots level. Meanwhile, the BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government is set to hold a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday in Pachmarhi to honour the legacy of tribal king Raja Bhabhut Singh. According to officials, Pachmarhi holds historical significance due to the contributions of the Gond ruler, who utilised the hilly terrain for governance, security, and the protection of cultural heritage. The BJP has been making special efforts to commemorate regional icons recently. While the Madhya Pradesh government held a recent Cabinet meeting at the Rajwada Palace in Indore to mark the 300th birth anniversary year of famed queen Ahilyabai Holkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 31 attended a 'Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan' in Bhopal that also honoured Ahilyabai Holkar. Second phase of Ram Mandir consecration The second phase of the consecration ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya will begin on Tuesday, officials said. As a precursor to the 'pran pratishtha', a grand sacred procession was flagged off from the banks of the Saryu River on Monday. According to an official statement, the upcoming rituals will include the consecration of idols in the Ram Darbar on the temple's first floor and in six other temples within the complex walls. The main ceremonies will culminate on June 5, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Ganga Dussehra. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to attend four key events, including the main consecration ceremony. No public invitations have been issued for June 3 to 5. A similar three-day celebration was held on January 11, marking the first anniversary of the original 'pran pratishtha' that was led by PM Modi in January last year. Speaker Om Birla in Brazil Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is in Brazil to participate in the 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, where he is scheduled to present his views on reform of multilateral peace and security architecture. Birla is leading the Indian parliamentary delegation for the three-day forum, which will be attended by presiding officers of parliaments of BRICS members and invited nations. The delegation comprises Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Rajya Sabha member Surendra Singh Nagar, Lok Sabha members Vijay Baghel, Vivek Thakur and Shabari Byreddy.
