Bail pleas of edu scam accused Narad and four others rejected

Nagpur: The bail applications of five accused, including Deputy Director of Education Ulhas Narad, were rejected by the First Class Magistrate, Court No. 6, on Tuesday in connection with the Shalarth ID scam , which has now rocked the state's education system. Even chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has taken cognizance of the case. Police have so far made seven arrests in the case and recovered several incriminating pieces of evidence, including fake proposals for teachers' recruitment and experience certificates from the residence of Gondia-based former school clerk Mahendra Mhaiskar. The five accused, who are lodged in Nagpur Central Jail since April 16, sought bail in connection with charges of various malpractices related to the issuance of fake experience certificates, recruitment, promotion, and sanction of salaries and arrears, leading to a substantial loss to the state exchequer.
