Pixel 10 series: Planning to buy Google Pixel 9? 3 reasons you should wait
Ahead of the Pixel 10 series launch next month, Google is offering discounts and promotional deals on its current Pixel 9 lineup. The base Pixel 9, for example, is now listed at Rs 69,999 on the Google Store online in India, down from its launch price of Rs 79,999. With the Pixel 10 series debut around the corner, should you consider waiting for the upcoming line-up or go with one of the models in the Pixel 9 series? Let us begin with what is expected from the Pixel 10 series. Google Pixel 10 series: Global launch Event: Made by Google Date: August 20, 2025 Time: 10:30 pm (IST) Livestream: YouTube Google Pixel 10 series: India launch Date: August 21, 2025 Google Pixel 10 series: What to expect Performance: The Pixel 10 is likely to feature the next-generation Google Tensor G5 chip. Built using TSMC's 3nm fabrication process, this marks a transition away from Samsung Foundry and is expected to bring gains in both speed and power efficiency. A notable change in the G5 could be Google's adoption of a GPU from Imagination Technologies—specifically the IMG DXT—replacing the Arm Mali-G715 MP7 used in the Tensor G4. Another important update may be a fully custom image signal processor (ISP), moving away from the semi-custom ISPs used in previous versions. This could lead to improved photo processing and overall camera performance. Camera: The Google Pixel 10 may become the first base model in the series to offer a telephoto lens. According to reports, this telephoto camera could be the same one used in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, supporting 5x optical zoom. This would enhance the base model's camera capabilities, offering better zoom, improved portrait photos, and enhanced macro performance. In addition to the new telephoto lens, Google is expected to update the main and ultra-wide sensors on the Pixel 10. The primary sensor is likely to be a 50MP Samsung GN8, the same used in the Pixel 9a. Last year's Pixel 9 featured the 50MP Samsung GNV sensor, also found in the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL. The ultra-wide sensor may shift from the 48MP Sony IMX858 used in the Pixel 9 to a 13MP Sony IMX712. Although this may seem like a downgrade, the real-world image quality may improve thanks to the expected fully custom ISP on the Tensor G5 chip. Qi2 wireless charging support: The Pixel 10 series, including the standard model, is expected to support the Qi2 wireless charging standard. This means magnetic alignment-based wireless charging would be possible when paired with compatible accessories. Google may even skip the baseline Qi2 spec in favor of the upgraded Qi2 25W standard, which offers faster charging speeds. In addition to the phones themselves, Google is also said to be preparing a new accessory ecosystem under the 'Pixelsnap' name, which may include custom cases and magnetic wireless chargers. Google Pixel 9 series: Offers on Google Store Launch price: Rs 79,999 Google Store discount: Rs 10,000 No-interest EMI: Up to 24 months Bank offers: cashback of up to Rs 7000 on EMI Pixel 9 Pro: Launch price: Rs 109,999 Google Store discount: Rs 10,000 No-interest EMI: Up to 24 months Bank offers: cashback of up to Rs 10,000 on EMI Pixel 9 Pro XL: Launch price: Rs 124,999 Google Store discount: Rs 10,000 No-interest EMI: Up to 24 months Bank offers: cashback of up to Rs 10,000 on EMI Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Launch price: Rs 172,999 Google Store discount: Rs 10,000 No-interest EMI: Up to 24 months Bank offers: cashback of up to Rs 10,000 on EMI

Pixel 10 Pro Price Leak Confirms Google's Bold Decisions
Pixel 9 Pro XL As Google prepares to announce the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro in late August, some of the biggest questions have been about the price of the new handsets. With flagship phones from the likes of Apple and Samsung regularly pushing base models into four-figure prices, how competitive will Google's pricing decisions be and what do they say about its strategy? Pixel 10 And Pixel 10 Pro Pricing We have European pricing across the four main models, which are broadly similar to the pricing of the Pixel 9 family. The Pixel 10 starts at €899 for 128 GB, the Pixel 10 Pro at €1,099 also for 128 GB, and the Pixel 10 Pro XL listings drop the 128 GB option to start at €1,299 for 256 GB. Finally, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold starts at € 1,899 for 256 GB. Both the Pro XL and the Pro Fold, sitting at the top of the portfolio, do not have 128 GB versions listed. That's not to say the 128 GB option is definitely gone—perhaps these will be available only through the Google Store, region-locked, or as network exclusives. We shall see during the Made By Google launch event scheduled for Aug. 20. By echoing 2024's pricing across the range, Google offers us a glimpse into the wider strategy it is using to address both the consumer market and its Android Partners. Pixel 10 And Pixel 10 Pro Strategy The steady approach to pricing—which is arguably mirrored by the incremental updates to the physical design of the Pixel 10 family over the Pixel 9—shows Google's confidence in the market. There may be new features added to the hardware and software of the Pixel package, but the value proposition has not changed; so neither has the price. That could be a quiet victory on retail shelves. There's an expectation that the price of the new model will rise compared to the existing model. Because the counterpoint to this is that if Google did lift the prices on the Pixel models, then the difference between its smartphones and the likes of the iPhone Pro or Galaxy S Ultra models would be more apparent; the increased performance of the latter would be noticeable, and the value conscious consumer would look at the closer pricing and decide that the jump to a more recognisable phone brand would be easier to make. Yet there is something more for the price-conscious buyer. Because of the lower starting price for each model, moving up to a model with increased storage feels like good value, in part due to keeping the Pixels lower than the entry-level pricing of the aforementioned Apple and Samsung devices. Finding Value In The Pixel 10 And Pixel 10 Pro Pricing for the Pixel 10 Pro and the rest of the Pixel 10 lineup is familiar. Google continues to offer a flagship experience at a price that will be perceived as lower than that of its competitors' flagships. Part of me wonders if this is because the real value in the Pixel family for Google is in the software and subscription services such as Google One and Google Gemini. Android Circuit: Galaxy S26 Ultra Leaks, Pixel Watch 4 Pricing, Honor Magic V5 Breaks Records
Taking a look back at this week's news and headlines across the Android world, including Google confirms Pixel 10, Pixel Watch 4 pricing, pre-order records for Samsung and Honor, Galaxy S26 Ultra leaks, Now Bar updated with new AI, and Oppo continues photo partnership. Android Circuit is here to remind you of a few of the many discussions around Android in the last seven days. You can also read my weekly digest of Apple news here on Forbes. An attendee holds the new Google Pixel 9 phones during the Made By Google event (Photo by Justin ...) Google Reveals Pixel 10 It's tough to stop leaks in the modern smartphone world, so Google—in a move echoing its 2024 launch timetable—has confirmed the Pixel 10 family with a teaser ad on the Google Store: "You can currently see a video of the phone on Google's website (and below), which shows a gray-ish blue phone with three back cameras, a flash, and what appears to be a temperature sensor — previously a Pro-exclusive feature. Google's website only describes it as the 'Pixel 10,' but the phone in the video lines up more closely with official renders of the Pixel 10 Pro series." (The Verge). Pixel Watch 4 Pricing Details Pricing has yet to be confirmed on the Pixel 10 series, although retail leaks have suggested similar pricing to last year. The same is true of the Pixel Watch 4, with European sticker prices matching up 2024's model: "According to Dealabs, the 41mm Pixel Watch 4 will come in at 399€ for the Wi-Fi model and 499€ for the LTE version. The 45mm Pixel Watch 4 is 449€ for Wi-FI, while LTE is 549€. This is specifically French pricing, with the leak presumably coming from a local retailer." (9to5Google). Record Pre-Orders For Galaxy Z Series Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 have shown the demand for the foldable form factor remains relatively high, with over a million pre-orders for Samsung's latest: '...all the signs from key markets like India and South Korea are very encouraging. Almost surprisingly so. Not only are the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 nearly as popular as the Galaxy S25 series in the world's most populous nation, but the pre-order record set by the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 a couple of years back in Samsung's homeland has officially been broken as well." (Phonearena). Honor's Record Preorders Speaking of foldable records, Honor is seeng a similar lift in pre-orders. The latest Magic V5 is picking up record requests around the world: "We brought in double the stock of the Honor Magic V3 for this launch, and still managed to sell out online within just 48 hours. Foldables are clearly booming in Singapore. It's clear that consumers here are eager to embrace innovation.' (Honor Singapore via Hardware Zone). Samsung Boosts Galaxy S26 Ultra Specs Looking further ahead, the foldables may be the fashion, but the flagships are waiting in the wings. Some will undoubtedly be launched in September (likely in time for Berlin's IFA consumer technology show), while others will follow later. Samsung's Galaxy S26 family is either at the very end of that cycle, or kicks off 2026. Nevertheless, one recent leak suggests it is already behind in the specs comparison: "That's still a 10% increase, but battery sizes starting with 6 and 7 are becoming the norm for Chinese brands, so this will clearly be seen as a weakness for the S26 Ultra when it arrives. On the flip side, it is said to support 65W charging, for the first time a Samsung smartphone is going to go past the previously-inescapable 45W threshold. (GSMArena). Samsung Upgrades Now Bar As artificial intelligence becomes ever more prevalent, how it is brought to users will be key. Samsung's Now Bar is one of those choices, and the South Korean company is stepping up and introducing more services to the fore: "In the 'Device Experience Guide' for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which ships with One UI 8, Samsung highlights that the Now Bar can now display real-time app alerts right on the cover screen. The document also reveals that app support for the Now Bar is set to expand from 20 services in One UI 7 (as of June 2025) to up to 35 in One UI 8 by the end of 2025." (Android Authority). And Finally... The traditional focus of smartphone photography is still a key point both in marketing and in manufacturing, so it's worth noting that Oppo's partnership with Hasselblad is set to continue: "Back in 2022, Oppo entered a strategic partnership with legendary imaging brand Hasselblad. The pair have been collaborating on all of Oppo's flagship phones since, and the two sides are now extending that partnership and revealed they are developing a next-generation imaging system for Oppo's upcoming flagship phones." (GSM Arena). Android Circuit rounds up the news from the Android world every weekend here on Forbes. Google Pixel 10: All the Latest Leaked Details
The Google Pixel 10 is expected next month, and we have some more details about the handset ahead of the official launch. While its design closely mirrors that of the Pixel 9, the Pixel 10 introduces a series of minor but meaningful updates aimed at enhancing both functionality and aesthetics. A new color variant and a limited-time discount for first-time Google Store newsletter subscribers further add to its appeal, making this release noteworthy for both loyal fans and potential new users. Watch this video on YouTube. What's New in the Pixel 10 Design? The Pixel 10 adheres to Google's signature minimalist design philosophy, but subtle refinements distinguish it from its predecessor. These updates focus on improving usability and visual appeal, making sure the device feels modern and polished. Key changes include: Relocated SIM Tray: The SIM tray has been moved from the bottom edge to the side of the device. This adjustment aligns with industry standards and enhances accessibility, making it easier for users to insert or remove their SIM cards. Slimmer Camera Bezel: The metal bezel surrounding the rear camera module has been reduced in thickness. This change not only gives the device a sleeker profile but also minimizes the visual bulk of the camera, contributing to a more streamlined appearance. This change not only gives the device a sleeker profile but also minimizes the visual bulk of the camera, contributing to a more streamlined appearance. Additional Cutout: A new cutout has been added, potentially for a speaker or microphone. While its exact purpose remains unclear, it suggests a focus on improving audio quality or functionality. These design tweaks, though subtle, reflect Google's commitment to refining the user experience without making drastic changes to the device's core design. By focusing on small but impactful adjustments, the Pixel 10 offers a more polished and user-friendly experience. Introducing the 'Moonstone' Color Variant Google has expanded its color options for the Pixel 10, introducing a new shade called 'moonstone.' This bluish hue joins the existing lineup, which includes white, black, porcelain, and jade. Notably, the jade color replaces the rose quartz option from the Pixel 9 series, offering a fresh alternative for users seeking a unique aesthetic. For those opting for the Pixel 10 Pro, the hazel color variant remains available, continuing to provide a premium look. The addition of the moonstone color is likely to resonate with users looking for a distinctive and modern design. By diversifying its color palette, Google caters to a wide range of personal preferences, making sure there's an option for everyone. This approach underscores Google's understanding of the importance of personalization in consumer technology. Exclusive Discount for New Customers To attract new users, Google is offering a limited-time discount for first-time newsletter subscribers in the United States. This promotion runs from August 20 to September 4, providing an opportunity for new customers to explore the Pixel 10 at a reduced cost. While the exact discount amount has not been disclosed, similar past promotions have typically offered savings of around 10%. This initiative lowers the financial barrier for those considering an upgrade or switching to Google's ecosystem. By offering this incentive, Google aims to make the Pixel 10 more accessible, particularly for users who may be hesitant to invest in a new device. The promotion also reflects Google's broader strategy of encouraging new customers to engage with its products and services. How Does It Compare to the Pixel 9? The Pixel 10 represents an evolutionary step forward rather than an innovative leap. Its relocated SIM tray, slimmer camera bezel, and new color options are incremental improvements that enhance the overall user experience without fundamentally altering the device's design or functionality. These updates suggest that Google is focused on refining an already successful formula rather than pursuing dramatic changes. For users currently using the Pixel 9, the updates may not be significant enough to warrant an immediate upgrade. However, for those with older devices or new to the Pixel lineup, the Pixel 10 offers a polished and modern experience that builds on the strengths of its predecessor. Its thoughtful design refinements and added features make it an appealing choice for a wide range of users. The Pixel 10's approach highlights Google's commitment to delivering consistent quality and usability. By focusing on iterative improvements, the company ensures that each new release feels fresh and relevant while maintaining the core elements that have made the Pixel series popular. The Google Pixel 10 leak looks exactly the same at the Pixel 9, and I think that's great
The Google Pixel 10 is one of the most anticipated upcoming phones, and it looks just like the Pixel 9, and honestly? I'm thrilled. If you missed it, Google has officially shown off a glimpse of the new phone in a short video on the Google Store, and from what we can tell, it looks almost identical to last year's Pixel 9 Pro. It's the same shape, same camera bar, same triple-lens setup. The Pixel 9 Pro is one of the best phones I've ever reviewed. I loved the design – the flat screen, the smooth edges, the way it sat in my hand. It didn't try too hard to look flashy, but still stood out thanks to that horizontal camera bar. It's simple, clean, and instantly recognisable (if you know your smartphones). If the Pixel 10 keeps all that the same, I'm all for it. Some people might call it lazy. But to me, it's smart. Not every phone needs a redesign every year – I find all of that a bit exhausting. The video doesn't say whether we're looking at the regular Pixel 10 or the Pro model, but the camera setup – three lenses, LED flash, and what might still be the temperature sensor – suggests it's the top-end one. It's basically a Pixel 9 Pro, just with a new name and a few tweaks we haven't seen yet. Google has a habit of releasing official photos before a launch to get ahead of the usual blurry leaks, and that's clearly the case here. It's been done before with the Pixel 4, 8, and 9 – and now again with the 10 via the Google Play Store. A clever move, really. Better to control the first impression than let someone else do it with grainy images in bad lighting. A separate leak (found by Android Authority) reveals which models we can expect: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, a Pro XL, and even a Pixel 10 Pro Fold Colour-wise, we're expecting the options: Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white), Moonstone (a blue-grey), and Jade (a pistachio green with gold details), while the non-Pro models could get a brighter Blue and 'Lemonchello' options. Jade is by far my favourite. I'd love to see more fun colours like that, especially when so many phones play it safe with black or silver. There's a lot more to come at Google's launch event on August 20, and, even if the base design hasn't changed, I don't mind at all, because sometimes the best update is knowing your favourite thing isn't going anywhere… Liked this?
