Foreign Theatre Artists to Train in Russian Acting Techniques in Moscow

Beginning 25 August and concluding 3 October 2025, the InteRussia fellowship will bring young theatre talents from BRICS+ countries to the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) for a cultural and educational immersion in Russian theatrical arts
This initiative, co-organized by the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, GITIS, TV BRICS International Media Network, and backed by the Presidential Grants Fund, invites senior acting students and emerging professional actors aged 21 to 35 from across Argentina, Brazil, India, China, Cuba, Mauritania, Tunisia, and South Africa
Over the six-week fellowship, participants will receive in-depth training in acting, stage speech, and movement, guided by GITIS teachers.
They will also explore the legacy of Konstantin Stanislavsky—his system, methodology, and influence—augmented by visits to renowned Moscow theatres, museums, and exhibition centers Grigory Zaslavsky, Rector of GITIS, highlighted the program's expansion, noting that the duration was increased from four to six weeks to ensure a richer learning experience.
Trainees will also participate in a lab inspired by A. N. Ostrovsky's play The Storm, culminating in a student performance of selected BRICS CEO Janna Tolstikova emphasized the organization's media outreach to over 60 institutional partners across 15 countries.
She noted that the wide coverage significantly boosted the volume of applications, reflecting strong interest in exposure to Russian theatre traditions.
The InteRussia fellowship, initiated in 2021, aims to deepen scientific, social, and cultural connections by fostering creative dialogue between young professionals in Russia and abroad.
