Uditaa Goswami celebrates husband Mohit Suri's success as ‘Saiyaara' soars past ₹130 crore

Filmmaker Mohit Suri's latest release Saiyaara continues its strong box office run, and the success has drawn public praise from his wife, actor-turned-DJ Uditaa Goswami. In a social media post shared on Tuesday, Goswami acknowledged the filmmaker's long effort behind the film and the challenges he has faced in recent years. Goswami wrote that she generally keeps her personal life private, but felt compelled to acknowledge Suri's dedication. 'This moment didn't come easy. It's the result of years of patience, hard work, frustration, anxiety, and sleepless nights,' she noted in her post, adding that her husband had rebuilt his career by starting over on his own terms. Saiyaara, which introduces newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has seen significant commercial success since its release on July 18. According to trade sources, the film has earned over ₹132 crore at the domestic box office in five days. It has also received largely positive reactions from audiences and critics. Goswami also shared a short video featuring herself, Suri, Panday, and Padda sitting together, appearing to celebrate the film's performance. The post also included a reference to Suri's habit of listening to pop music as a break from his usual work, with Goswami noting that Katy Perry's Roar was a frequent choice. Saiyaara marks another collaboration between Yash Raj Films and Suri. The film tells the story of Krish, a temperamental musician, and Vaani, an aspiring journalist, as they navigate the complexities of love and ambition. Goswami and Suri, who married in 2013, have two children. She stepped away from acting over a decade ago and currently works as a DJ. Their professional collaboration began with the 2005 film Zeher, directed by Suri and starring Goswami.

‘Gangrape, physical assault & threats': Woman cop in UP files complaint against S-I, his friend

TWO YEARS after she was allegedly raped and 'frequently blackmailed' by a sub-inspector (S-I) colleague, a woman constable with the Uttar Pradesh Police has now filed a complaint against him and one of his friends. The FIR was registered on Sunday, naming S-I Ravikant Goswami and his friend, Dikshant Sharma, accusing them of gangrape, physical assault, blackmail and repeated threats to kill her and her family. According to the police, the first assault took place in 2023, when the woman was visiting Mathura district for a function to which she had invited Goswami. He allegedly called her to a room in a hotel where he had booked a stay. In the room, he allegedly gave her juice that had been spiked. After drinking it, the woman lost consciousness, after which the S-I allegedly raped her. When she woke up, she found that she had been raped and filmed and was threatened that if she told anyone, he would leak the videos and kill her family, the woman has told the police. Months passed, she alleged, but the harassment continued. A few months later the same year, she alleged, she was again forced to meet Goswami — this time at a hotel in Moradabad, where he threatened her again and said he would release the earlier video. She found that his friend, Dikshant Sharma, was also present in the room. They once again allegedly made her drink something, which made her feel drowsy, before raping her again. Videos of the act were recorded and she was again blackmailed and threatened by the S-I and his friend, the complaint alleges. In the months that followed, the woman said that she tried to keep away and 'ignored Goswami's phone calls.' But in January this year, she alleged, he tracked her down again — in Jhansi. She alleged that Goswami, who was 'following' her, suddenly accosted her and started beating her up for not picking up his calls. 'She suffered a fracture in a finger,' said a police officer, citing the complaint. The woman's complaint has been converted into an FIR under IPC Sections 376D (gangrape), 328 (causing hurt by poison), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (causing grievous hurt), 504 (intentional insult) and 506 (criminal intimidation), police said. 'This is a serious matter. We are verifying the allegations and collecting evidence. Appropriate legal action will be taken,' said a senior police officer.

UP Congress chief Ajay Rai, party's UP in charge Avinash Pande and senior leader PL Punia at a party workshop in Lucknow. (HT photo) 'Fertiliser from Uttar Pradesh is being smuggled to Nepal while farmers here are getting cane when they ask for fertiliser,' Rai alleged. The partymen will submit memorandums to the office of district magistrates across the state, he said. Party's UP in charge Avinash Pande, who has been chairing zonal review meetings for the past one week under organisation strengthening process, said, 'The Sangathan Srijan workshops have given new strength to the party that is targeting upcoming panchayat elections and the 2027 assembly elections (in UP).' He along with Rai chaired the party's Awadh zone meeting during the day after Braj, Prayagraj and Poorvanchal zones. The minister was stopped from worshipping at Vrindavan temple by Goswami community people as they protested the projects being forced upon the people there,' Rai claimed. 'An FIR was lodged against me in Varanasi when I tried to expose the government for poor services for the Kanwariyas. Banke Bihari priests say no prasad for BJP leaders, officials

Agra: Priests of Vrindavan's Banke Bihari temple announced on Monday that they will no longer offer ceremonial scarves or prasad to BJP leaders and local officials during darshan. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This comes after over 50 days of protests against the proposed Banke Bihari Corridor. Gyanendra Kishor Goswami, a member of the temple's management, said the latest decision came after local women protesting the project were "manhandled" by police during UP power and urban development minister A K Sharma's visit on Saturday. "We have no choice but to protect Bihari ji from a govt trying to turn our spiritual shrine into a picnic spot. We've been protesting peacefully, in the spirit of Gandhiji, without disturbing law and order," said Goswami. "On Saturday, the women came to submit a memorandum against the corridor, but police pushed and manhandled them, refusing to let them meet the minister. We do not want such 'VIPs' here. That's why the priests decided not to honour ruling party leaders or officials with ceremonial scarves. " He clarified that darshan would remain open to all. Goswami also noted that a review petition on the corridor project is still pending before the Supreme Court, even as local authorities continue land surveys. "What's the hurry? They only know how to demolish buildings, not how to find solutions acceptable to all sections of Vrindavan," he said. Established in 1862, the Shri Banke Bihari temple, managed by hereditary Shebaits, is among India's most visited pilgrimage sites. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The redevelopment project, modelled on the Kashi Vishwanath corridor, is estimated to cost Rs 500 crore and involves acquiring nearly five acres around the shrine. SC has allowed land purchases using the temple's fixed deposits, on the condition that ownership remains with the deity or a newly formed trust. The corridor is expected to displace around 275 families, including 200 shopkeepers. Flats in Rukmini Vihar and Sunrakh Bangar have been earmarked for rehabilitation, and officials have promised compensation and alternative shop spaces. The redevelopment gained momentum after a stampede-like incident during Janmashtami in 2022 left two devotees dead. In Sept 2023, the Allahabad high court directed the state to implement a corridor plan to improve crowd safety and access.

Goswami community women protest against Banke Bihari corridor during UP minister's temple visit

Wearing black dupattas, the women voiced their opposition to the Banke Bihari corridor, which they claim will harm the temple's spiritual and cultural heritage. Mathura (UP), Jul 19 (PTI) Women of the Goswami community staged a protest in front of Uttar Pradesh Power and Urban Development Minister A K Sharma at the Banke Bihari Temple here on Saturday, raising slogans against the proposed corridor project, officials said. Tensions escalated when a police officer allegedly snatched protest signboards and pushed some priests, angering the women, who then prevented the temple's traditional welcome for the minister, they said. Sharma later called four women protesters for a discussion and assured them that their concerns would be conveyed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The minister said he felt 'blessed to have darshan at the Sri Bankey Bihari temple.' Regarding the contentious corridor, he emphasised, 'Corridor or any development project is taken considering the needs of citizens, and the party is very sensitive in this matter.' He stressed that 'the interests of all stakeholders will be preserved.' The Banke Bihari Temple corridor project, aimed at easing crowd congestion and improving the pilgrimage experience, has drawn opposition from sections of the Goswami community and locals who fear it may lead to the demolition of historic lanes and ancient structures, altering Vrindavan's essence.
