Pedro Pascal Lookalike Contest Winner Just Got Shown Some Love by the Real Deal

The sufficiently uncanny winner of a Pedro Pascal lookalike contest has received a virtual chest-bump from the actual star of TV's The Last of Us and The Mandalorian. George Gountas, a 42-year-old father of two from Brooklyn — and a lighting designer for Comedy Central's The Daily Show since 2018 — was declared to be the Pedro Pascaliest at a Zaddy's Father's Day contest sponsored by Son Del North, a Mexican restaurant on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Additionally, Gountas on Monday morning received the emoji version of an official endorsement, when Pascal himself replied to a Pubity IG post with: '👨🏻👨🏻👨🏻👨🏻👨🏻🥹❤️' View this post on Instagram A post shared by Pubity (@pubity) Gountas told our sister site THR that Pascal comparisons 'started back when Pedro was on Game of Thrones' playing Red Viper, 'a very beloved character. 'My wife was so freaked out when he got killed,' he recalled. 'She's like, 'I can't watch this. I feel like the guy is crushing your head.'' (Oops, spoiler for Game of Thrones, I suppose.) 'I look more like him than I look like my own brother,' Gountas professed. As of when THR went to press, Gountas had yet to hear from Daily Show front man Jon Stewart on his new claim to fame — and in fact, is a bit anxious about workplace feedback! 'I'm anxious about going to the show and have everybody make fun of me,' he said, while acknowledging: It's kind of a very cool family environment there.' Best of TVLine 'Missing' Shows, Found! Watch: Pedro Pascal look-alike contest winner gets $50, free burritos

June 16 (UPI) -- A Mexican restaurant in New York held a Pedro Pascal look-alike contest, drawing nearly 30 participants to compete for the best impersonation of Mandalorian and Last of Us star. Annisha Garcia, co-owner of Son Del North Mexican restaurant on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, said the contest was inspired by Pascal's 2023 comment that there was no good Mexican food in the city. "We were like, 'There is, and we are here,'" Garcia told the New York Post. The competition was won by Pedro No. 5, aka Brooklyn dad George Gountas. Gountas, a lighting designer for Comedy Central's The Daily Show, was urged to compete by his wife, Jenny Gania. "It started when the Game of Thrones came out the first time -- that's when we first heard it," Gania said. "Then some kids started noting it, too, so I was like, when we saw this [contest], I was like, 'It's Father's Day. You have to go. It's going to be your Father's Day treat.' It's funny, because he's not on social media at all. But now he's going to be everywhere." Gountas was awarded $50 and free burritos for a year from Son Del North.

Pedro Pascal Look-Alike Contest Winner In NYC Deserves The Title

This Father's Day, one of film and television's most beloved daddies was celebrated in New York City. A Pedro Pascal look-alike contest was held in the streets of NYC's Lower East Side, where fans crowned Pedro #5, Brooklyn dad George Gountas, for having the closest resemblance to the Golden Globe-nominated The Last of Us star. Gountas, who was dragged to the contest by his wife Jenny Gania, won $50 and a year's supply of burritos courtesy of host Son Del North Mexican restaurant, according to the New York Post. 'It started when the Game of Thrones came out the first time — that's when we first heard it,' Gania told the post. 'Then some kids started noting it, too, so I was like, when we saw this [contest], I was like, 'It's Father's Day. You have to go. It's going to be your Father's Day treat.' It's funny, because he's not on social media at all. But now he's going to be everywhere.' After Gountas beat out nearly 30 other Pedros who gathered outside the eatery in the rain for the contest, Son Del North chef and co-owner Annisha Garcia said the inspiration came after Pascal claimed in 2023 that there is no good Mexican food in the city. 'I'm, 'So sorry, but there's no Mexican, good Mexican food in New York?'' said Garcia. 'And we were like, 'There is, and we are here.'' Who Won Pedro Pascal Lookalike Contest and What Was the Prize? Learn About Brooklyn Dad Being Dragged to Competition

A Brooklyn dad walked into a Pedro Pascal lookalike contest on Father's Day, and walked out with USD 50 and a year's worth of burritos. George Gountas of Greenpoint didn't expect to win when his family convinced him to enter the lookalike competition on Sunday, June 15. But to their surprise, he took the top prize at Son Del North, a Mexican restaurant on Manhattan's Lower East Side, as per the New York Post. Gountas participated with nearly 30 contestants at the event, celebrating fans of Pedro Pascal, the Chilean-born actor known for his roles in The Mandalorian, The Last of Us, and Game of Thrones. Pascal played bounty hunter Din Djarin in The Mandalorian and Joel Miller in The Last of Us, two of his most popular roles in recent years. The idea to enter came from Gountas' wife, Jenny Gania, who said people have pointed out the resemblance for years. 'It started when Game of Thrones came out the first time, that's when we first heard it,' Gania said. 'Then some kids started noting it, too, so when we saw this [contest], I was like, 'It's Father's Day. You have to go. It's going to be your Father's Day treat.'' Gountas, who doesn't use social media, was surprised by the attention. 'It's funny, because he's not on social media at all,' Gania added. 'But now he's going to be everywhere.' Here's why contest happened in the first place The lookalike contest was inspired by a viral comment Pedro Pascal made in 2023, suggesting that there wasn't any decent Mexican food in New York City. Son Del North's chef and co-owner Annisha Garcia said that sparked the idea. 'I'm, 'So sorry, but there's no Mexican, good Mexican food in New York?'' Garcia said. 'And we were like, 'There is, and we are here.'' The restaurant's co-owner Wim Shih said the goal was to create a fun and uplifting moment for the community. Shih said that there's just so much sadness in the world right now that they thought to be a bit of sunshine amidst all that. This Pedro Pascal lookalike contest follows another recent celebrity-themed event in New York: a Timothée Chalamet lookalike competition held last October in Washington Square Park, where Chalamet himself made an appearance.

Pedro Pascal finds his doppelganger in NYC dad at look-alike contest; spitting resemblance leaves netizens stunned

A Pedro Pascal look-alike contest held on the streets of Manhattan's Lower East Side left fans in awe after a Brooklyn dad who emerged as the spitting image of the Last of Us star. George Gountas, who was Pedro Contestant #5, was crowned the winner among nearly 30 contestants who braved the weather to compete outside a Mexican eatery that hosted the quirky Father's Day celebration. According to The NYPost, Gountas was forced to participate in the competition by his wife Jenny Gania, who took note of his resemblance to the actor when they were watching the hit series ' Game of Thrones '. She wasn't the only one to spot the similarity between her hubby and the actor. 'Then some kids started noting it, too… When we saw this contest, I said, 'It's Father's Day. You have to go. It's going to be your Father's Day treat,' Jenny told the portal. Gountas ended up walking away from the competition with $50 and a year's supply of burritos. While the lookalike is not on social media, his wife is now confident that he will become popular after the internet gets to see his resemblance to television's favourite 'dad'. Much to her prediction, several fans took to their handles to share the photos from the contest and marvel at the men who turned up and commended them for their striking appearances. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Take a look at some tweets below: The event was inspired in part by Pascal's own remarks last year, when he claimed that 'there's no good Mexican food in New York.' Co-owner and chef Annisha Garcia said the contest was a playful way to prove otherwise. 'I'm like, 'So sorry, but there's no good Mexican food in New York?' And we were like, 'There is, and we are here,'' Garcia said. The Pedro Pascal look-alike contest follows a similar viral moment in October when Timothee Chalamet fans gathered for a doppelganger event in Madison Square Park and were surprised when the actor himself showed up. The lookalike later even got to walk the red carpet at the 2025 Oscars.
