Chief Minister makes six new announcements for Salem district
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin made six new announcements for the district at a function held on the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College premises in Salem on Thursday.
The announcements are ₹100 crore for Salem Corporation for road development, sewage channels, and small bridges; ₹9 crore for upgrading the daily market at Shevapet in Salem Corporation; ₹10 crore for upgrading the agricultural market at Eluppanatham in Thalaivasal taluk; new municipal office buildings for Mettur and Narasingapuram municipalities; a new commercial complex at Sankagiri municipality and new water schemes for Tharamangalam Municipality at ₹18 crore, for Edappadi Municipality at ₹9 crore, and for Attur Municipality at ₹5 crore.
Explaining the beneficiaries list in the Salem district under various schemes in the past four years, the Chief Minister said that in the past four years, schemes worth ₹7,661 crore and welfare assistance worth ₹22,117 crore were provided for Salem district, Mr. Stalin added.
The Chief Minister honoured A. Rajeshwari, the first girl from the tribal community in Kalvarayan Hills who cleared JEE Advanced and got the opportunity to study in IIT. The Chief Minister handed over a land patta and a laptop to her.
Earlier, when the Chief Minister headed to Salem from Mettur, he went by walking in various places in Omalur and Mecheri and met people on both sides of the road.
In the function, Public Works Department Minister E.V. Velu, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam, Tourism Minister R. Rajendran, District Collector R. Brindha Devi, MPs T.M. Selvaganapathi, V.S. Matheswaran, D. Malaiyarasan, and Mani, MLAs R. Arul and S. Sathasivam, and officials participated.
