Record 1,261 Ph.D. degrees to be awarded at Osmania's 84th convocation
A record of 1,261 Ph.D. degrees will be given at the 84th convocation ceremony of Osmania University to be held on August 19. The ceremony is noteworthy as the university will present Governor's Gold Medal for best Ph.D thesis in English by a Scheduled Tribe student, an initiative of the university Chancellor and Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, to promote tribal scholarship. The university also instituted the Professor Samudrala Satyanarayana Murthy Memorial Gold Medal in MBA Finance. Addressing the media on Wednesday, Vice-Chancellor Kumar Molugaram said that the previous convocation saw 979 Ph.D. degrees awarded. This year, they will also give away gold medals to 121 meritorious students for 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years. Mr. Molugaram informed that the university will confer the 50th honorary doctorate upon Director, Indian Space Research Organisation, V. Narayanan, for his invaluable contributions to the country's space programme. Mr. Narayanan will also deliver the convocation address. Registrar G. Naresh Reddy, Controller of Examinations K. Shashikanth, and other senior officials were present during the address.

Nagaland HSLC result 2025 announced, 75.16% students pass, Lungyihangle Nring tops with 98.67%: Check result here
The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has declared the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2025 results on April 25. A total of 22,313 students appeared, of which 16,771 have qualified, recording a pass percentage of 75.16%. Government schools registered a modest 48.41% pass rate, while private schools performed significantly better at 87.64%. The official gazette and merit list are now available on the NBSE portal, Lungyihangle Nring tops HSLC 2025 Lungyihangle Nring of St. Paul Higher Secondary School, Dimapur emerged as the state topper, scoring 592 marks with an impressive 98.67%. He also received the NBSE Topper Award, the Governor's Gold Medal, and the Mayangnokcha Award for Academic Excellence. The second position was shared by three candidates with 98%, while several others followed closely, including top scorers from Kohima, Chumoukedima, and Mokokchung. District-wise, Kohima recorded the highest pass percentage at 87.58%, followed by Chumoukedima (83.43%) and Mokokchung (80.64%). Mon, Tuensang, and Longleng showed improvement but remained below the state average.
