16 women rescued from spa in Vimannagar
Pune: The Airport police raided a spa and massage centre at Datta Mandir Chowk in Vimannagar at 5pm on Tuesday, rescuing 16 women forced into flesh trade. Senior inspector Govind Jadhav said the rescued women include 10 from Thailand, three from Maharashtra and one each from Delhi, Chandigarh and Assam. He said that acting on a tip-off, the police sent a decoy customer to confirm the activity before raiding the facility located on the third floor of a housing society. Investigations revealed the spa was running illegally for a few days now. "We have taken the spa manager and four customers into custody for questioning. The rescued women were sent to a correction home," he said. Cybercrooks dupe retd IAF staffer of 33L in policy con
Pune: Online fraudsters duped an 80-year-old man, a retired Indian Air Force staffer, of Rs 32.75 lakh by promising a higher valuation of his life insurance policy. The victim lodged a complaint with the police on Monday, stating that the cheating took place between Dec last year and Feb. According to the police, the victim has a life insurance policy with a fund valuation of Rs 1.57 lakh. "The suspects called him, posing as executives of the victim's policy firm, and promised him a higher valuation of his policy against payment of trivial amounts," said senior inspector Govind Jadhav of Airport Police. "The fraudsters repeatedly called him and had all the information about the victim and his policy with the private company. Thus, the victim trusted them," Jadhav said.
