Applications Invited for Netannala Bharosa Scheme to Support Handloom Weavers in the District

Gadwal: The Assistant Director of the Handloom and Textile Department, Mr. Govindayya, has announced through a press release that applications are being invited from eligible handloom weavers in the district for enrollment in the Netannala Bharosa Scheme (Weavers' Assurance Scheme). Eligibility Criteria: Only handloom weavers who are actively engaged in their craft on a daily basis and have a Geo-tag Number are eligible. Applicants must be enrolled under the Thrift Fund Scheme (Pothupu Padhakam). The applicant must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants should be capable of producing handloom products as per prescribed guidelines. Scheme Benefits: Under this scheme, financial support will be provided as an annual wage incentive: Rs. 18,000/- for primary handloom weavers. Rs. 6,000/- for assistant weavers (helper category). Mr. Govindayya further added that every product labeled under the Telangana Standard Weaves Label, marked with a unique logo, guarantees minimum quality standards and serves as a mark of authenticity and recognition for the state's handloom products. Application Process: Interested weavers in the district are required to fill Form A and Form B, and submit them along with: Two recent passport-size photos of both the weaver and assistant (if applicable), Xerox copies of Aadhaar card and bank passbook. All completed applications must be submitted by 25th July 2025 at the Handloom and Textile Department Office, Room No. F-28, 1st Floor. The scheme, which had previously benefited thousands of artisans, is now open once again for applications from handloom weavers and allied workers such as those engaged in dyeing, designing, warping, and winding. The initiative is designed to promote financial discipline and long-term savings among workers in the traditional textile sector. Application Process Applicants must submit: A copy of their Aadhaar card A bank passbook copy RD-I and RD-II application forms Four passport-size photographs The deadline for submission is June 19, 2025. Eligibility Criteria To qualify for the scheme: Applicants must be 18 years or older At least 50% of their annual income must be derived from handloom-related work Weavers must have a Geo-tagged loom number Allied workers involved in supporting tasks like dyeing and designing are also eligible Savings Model As per the scheme's structure, beneficiaries must open joint RD-I and RD-II savings accounts in their existing bank, with both the weaver and the Assistant Director named in the accounts. The scheme mandates that: 8% of the weaver's monthly wages be deposited into the RD-I account by the 15th of every month In return, the government will contribute an equivalent 8% into the RD-II account The total duration of the scheme is 24 months, allowing participating weavers to build a modest corpus with government support by the end of the term. Govindayya urged eligible workers to avail themselves of this opportunity to improve their financial stability and safeguard their future. The scheme is part of the Telangana government's broader commitment to the welfare of traditional artisans and revival of the handloom sector.

Gadwal: The Telangana State Government is inviting applications from skilled handloom weavers for the prestigious Konda Laxman Bapuji Handloom Awards, which are presented annually on August 7 in honor of National Handloom Day. In a press release, District Assistant Director of Handlooms and Textiles, Govindayya, announced the details and eligibility criteria for the awards. The awards recognize craftsmanship in various traditional weaving styles including Pochampally Ikat, Durries, General Varieties, Narayanpet sarees, and Gadwal sarees. Artisans with proven expertise in these categories are encouraged to apply. Eligibility Criteria: Weaving Category: Applicants must be at least 30 years old as of December 31, 2024. A minimum of 10 years of experience in the weaving profession is required. Designing Category: Applicants must be at least 25 years old. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in designing is required. Awards: Selected artisans will receive: A cash prize of Rs. 25,000, A certificate of appreciation, A memento, And a shawl as part of the felicitation. Application Guidelines: Applicants are required to submit a sample of their woven or designed fabric to the office of the Assistant Director of Handlooms located at the IDOC in Gadwal. The sample must not be for sale and must be accompanied by a self-declaration stating that the design or fabric is entirely their own work. Application forms are available at the Handlooms and Textiles office, and the deadline to submit applications is May 15, 2025. After reviewing the applications, eligible entries will be recommended to the state-level award selection committee under the supervision of the District Collector. The official also mentioned that selected samples will be returned to the respective weavers by post after the awards are presented.
