I went wild camping with the Gozney Tread and cooked some of the best pizza I've ever had
I already own a Gozney Dome – it's one of my favourite things and easily one of the best pizza ovens around. The perfect mix of function and fire, it turns a back garden into a pizza restaurant. But the Gozney Tread? That's something else. This one's built for adventure. So last week I packed one in the back of a Mercedes Marco Polo camper van and headed to Wales for some proper wild cooking. Dough prepped, gas locked in, stand folded, peels packed – it was time to see just how portable this 'world's most portable pizza oven' really is. Let's be honest from the start – the Tread isn't that light. At 13.5kg just for the oven, plus a 5kg gas bottle, accessories, and the optional Venture Stand, it adds up. This isn't for hikers or minimalists. It's for people who don't mind packing the boot full of gear to chase the perfect bake in a picturesque location. Luckily, the Marco Polo had space to spare. We loaded in the Matty Matheson limited-edition model – a bright orange showstopper covered in his doodles – and rolled into a quiet spot nestled in a woodland. The sun dropped low, sheep grazed nearby, and it was time to fire up the Tread. Setup is simple. The stand is clever, with individually adjustable legs to cope with uneven terrain (though watch the sand – more on that later). Plug in the gas, press the igniter, and you're off. It only takes about 10 to 15 minutes to reach cooking temp, and it'll pump out a blistering 500°C (approx. 900°F) of focused heat from its lateral gas burner, just like the Dome. That night, we cooked two 12in Neapolitan pizzas using our homemade dough (thank you, Marco Polo fridge). The results were incredible – beautifully blistered crusts, bubbling cheese, and that slightly smoky char that's so hard to fake. The Tread isn't just about portability – it performs just like a full-sized oven. The next day, we headed to the Black Rock Sands beach, a picturesque beach in North Wales that allows you to drive on the sand. This time we tried something a bit different: Chopped Cheese Calzones, following a recipe from Gozney's excellent YouTube channel. Think NYC-style chopped cheeseburger folded into a calzone. Ridiculous? Yes. Delicious? Also yes. The Tread nailed them, crisping the outside while melting the beefy, cheesy filling inside. It's proof that pizza is just the beginning. It's worth mentioning: the Tread does cool down quickly – a big plus when it's time to pack up. But after that beach cookout, I did get sand in the tripod legs. They used to glide open; now there's a gritty crunch. Not a dealbreaker, but a reminder that wild cooking comes with trade-offs. Despite the weight, the experience is brilliant. Cooking pizza outdoors isn't just tasty – it feels like an event. A clear upgrade to sizzling some sausages on a barbecue. There are plenty of neat design touches, too. The roof rack accessory lets you use the oven top as a prep area, and the attachable mantel makes turning and resting food easy. The stand, when it's not full of sand, is rock solid. And the fact you can also fit a skillet in there means steaks, fish, even roast veg are fair game. This is a full-on outdoor oven disguised as a travel companion. Would I carry it up a mountain? No. Would I take it to a friend's garden, a beach, or a campsite where I can park up? Absolutely. It makes memorable meals in beautiful places. And it's built to last – tough stainless steel, a 12mm cordierite stone, and a five-year warranty to back it all up. I still love my Dome. It's the king of home pizza ovens. But the Tread opens up new horizons – literally. So, if you've got a van, a view, and a bit of patience to haul it all, the Gozney Tread delivers big on performance and adventure. It's not ultra-light, but it is ultra-fun. The Gozney Tread has an RRP of $499 in the US and £499 in the UK, but it's currently on sale for just £399 in the UK. Liked this? Shoppers can save £100 on my favourite pizza oven that rivals Ooni and Ninja
With al fresco dining on the agenda this summer, pizza fans can save up to £350 on the Gozney range Pizza ovens are heating up back gardens across the UK as demand for outdoor cooking continues to rise. With more people investing in at-home dining experiences, wood-fired and gas-powered pizza ovens are proving more popular than ever. In my opinion, one of the best you can buy comes from Gozney - and I should know because I have one. The Gozney Arc is touted as being the "world's most advanced compact oven for creating a 14-inch pizza." It can hit a scorching 500°C and comes equipped with a revolutionary burner. The Arc is just one of the offerings from Gozney, and right now shoppers can save on selected pizza ovens and accessories until August, 6. With up to £350 off range-topping ovens in the Gozney sale, these are investment pieces that make outdoor cooking really easy. Elsewhere in the range, the Gozney Dome is a high-end, dual-fuel outdoor pizza oven that runs on wood or gas and is capable of reaching temperatures over 950°F to cook restaurant-quality Neapolitan pizzas in just 60–90 seconds. Designed for serious home cooks, it features a 16-inch cooking surface, built-in digital thermometer, adjustable air vents and professional-grade insulation for consistent heat. As well as making perfect pizza, it can roast, bake, steam and smoke, making it a versatile outdoor cooking tool. Usually on sale for £1,799, shoppers can save £350, with the price slashed to £1449.99. For pizza on the go, the Gozney Tread is a lightweight, ultra-portable pizza oven designed for outdoor cooking anywhere. Built with rugged materials, it supports high-temperature cooking and fits a 12' pizza or cast-iron pan. It can be paired with the Venture Stand and an attachable cutting board to make a compact outdoor kitchen setup. Reduced from £499 to £399, it's a worthy alternative to the likes of Ooni and Ninja. Back to my favourite - The Arc. Easy to use straight out of the box, it was up and running in under 10 minutes. Once connected to the gas it was ready to go. The battery-powered LED display lets me see how hot it is getting, although it takes around 30-40 minutes to reach 400°C. The oven gets extremely hot, and once the pizza is in, it cooks in literally 60 seconds. The first time I used it I thought that was a sales pitch, but I got caught out when I turned my back and it burnt, so very quick. I would recommend watching while it cooks to ensure the pizza comes out perfectly cheesy and authentically delicious. Stylish, expertly designed and a top-tier pizza oven – this gadget is far from a novelty. I'm ready to serve up pizzas all summer that are so delicious, I doubt we'll even consider takeaways. The Gozney Arc, a truly ground-breaking outdoor oven that whips up fantastic pizza in a flash, can be bought online for £599.99 directly from Gozney. And if you're keen on the tall pizza oven stand, it'll cost you an extra £249.99 - but honestly, I think it is worth it. Naturally, there are other pizza ovens available. The Ooni is perhaps one of the most recognised brands in the UK, boasting a range of pizza ovens to cater to everyone. The Ooni Karu Multi-Fuel Outdoor Pizza Oven is a top-selling model, presently on offer with 30% off, reduced from £699 to £489.30. Other Ooni favourites include the Ooni Karu 12 Multi-Fuel Pizza Oven, on sale for £299, and the Karu 2 2nd Generation Multi-Fuel Pizza Oven, now £349 at Lakeland. Elsewhere, the Big Horn Outdoor Pizza Oven is a good alternative for buyers on a budget. On sale for £149.40, buyers have called it "A pizza lover's dream." But it's not just me who is smitten with my Gozney pizza oven. One five-star review on the website said: "I wish I could give this oven more than five stars. I bought the Arc model, which is truly a work of art. "Even the packaging is beautifully designed. From the moment you open the box, you can see the attention to detail and high-quality craftsmanship. I've made pizzas and sandwiches in it, and the results have been amazing. This is easily one of the best purchases I've made for my happiness." Another added: "This oven is a huge step up - heat retention is amazing with thicker stone, and side flame gives great visibility at its hottest point. It looks cool too and gets a lot of love and admiring comments. Awesome". However, not all users found it to be a straightforward experience, with one sharing a less than stellar three-star review: "We are still trying to figure it out. We keep burning our pizzas, or they are uncooked all the way." Nonetheless, the Gozney Arc and its array of accessories seem to have won a place in the hearts of pizza lovers far and wide, with another five-star review encapsulating the sentiment: " Game changer for professional quality pizza at home."

When there's pizza on the table, everyone wants to get a look in, and we couldn't hold back from sharing that Gozney, one of the best pizza oven manufacturers, is launching a new limited edition oven. What's more, the launch is in partnership with chef, actor, and television personality Matty Matheson. What's there to be excited about? He brings his fun and approachable manner to his work, which is certainly reflected in the bold design of the limited-edition Signature version. We love the engraved cartoon accents that feature on the exterior of the stainless steel pizza oven, which are drawn by Matty's illustrator, Christopher Wilson. Tom Gozney, founder and designer of Gozney, says, 'The limited edition Tread is loud, bold, full of personality, and just like Matty, it doesn't take itself too seriously,' and adds, 'But underneath all that fun, it's still Gozney through and through.' From June 18, you can fire up a flaming orange version of Gozney's Tread pizza oven, which features as the best portable pizza oven in our best pizza oven buying guide.
