Grady Memorial Hospital launches new medical helicopter
One of the busiest trauma centers in the country, Grady Memorial Hospital, has launched a new, state-of-the-art medical helicopter. The hospital says Grady Air is one of the state's largest medical aircraft and can provide intensive care unit-level care to patients. The helicopter is equipped with advanced life-support equipment and can carry multiple caregivers at once. 'Time is of the essence when it comes to trauma care,' said Dr. Ryan Fransman, medical director of Grady Air at Grady Health System. 'Every minute we save in transporting a critically injured patient to our trauma center increases their chance of survival. As Atlanta's only Level I trauma center, this new helicopter gives us the reach, speed, and medical capacity to make a real difference when every second counts." Dallas Baptist hits 3 HRs, beats Rhode Island 6-2 at Baton Rouge Regional
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Chayton Krauss, Keaton Grady and Luke Heefner each hit a home run on Friday night to help Dallas Baptist beat Rhode Island 6-2 at the Baton Rouge Regional. Micahel Dattalo led off the first inning with a single and Nathan Humpreys followed with an RBI double before Krauss hit a two-out two-run shot off Trystan Levesque (8-2) and Grady hit the next pitch over the wall in left to give the No. 2 seed Patriots (41-16) a 4-0 lead. Dallas Baptist, making its 11th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance (the event was canceled in 2020 due to COVID), plays top-seed LSU and Rhode Island takes on No. 4 seed Arkansas-Little Rock in loser-out game on Saturday. Ryan Borgerg (9-4) pitched five innings and gave up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Luke Pettitte — the son of Andy Pettitte, who won five World Series titles with the New York Yankees — threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings and earned his second save of the season. Anthony DePino drew a two-out walk and scored on a single by Reece Moroney in the third and hit a solo shot in the fifth for No. 3 seed Rhode Island (38-20). Poole and Kraus two consecutive two-out walks before Grady hit an RBI single up the middle to cap the scoring in the eighth. The Rams are making their third NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and their first since 2016.

Dozens protest arrests of 3 council meeting attendees, city hall security under scrutiny
Protesters are standing in solidarity with the three people who were arrested during Tuesday night's city council meeting. Action News Jax was at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office on Wednesday as dozens waited for the release of two out of the three that were arrested. Leah Grady was already released from jail when protesters gathered Wednesday and she spoke out. 'Put simply, it was a dumb thing to be arrested for,' said Grady. 'But what it did was expose the contradiction at the moment of constituents trying to have their voices heard and our elected officials not only ignoring them but having them ejected from a public meeting.' Police said she was one of three people refusing to leave council chambers when ordered. Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters defended the way his officers handled the situation. 'When the officer got up there, he actually made contact with the person he was going to remove,' said Sheriff Waters. 'I believe the young man stepped into his way and then brushed his hand off. However, police said they did find a knife on him, and he faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon. His lawyers said it was a pocketknife which under state law, would not be considered a weapon. It's something the Sheriff disagrees with. Mayor Donna Deegan said she will conduct a full security review of city hall to make sure people are safe.
