Teasdale Latin Foods Reaffirms Commitment to Reaching Agreement with Grain Millers Union

HOOPESTON, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--After weeks of informal discussions and a meeting with the Grain Millers Union on August 11, Teasdale Latin Foods (Teasdale) remains committed to finding a path forward that brings striking employees back to work and strengthens the future of the Hoopeston facility. 'Teasdale is dedicated to good faith negotiations and ensuring our employees know their contributions are valued,' said Tim O'Connor, Chief Executive Officer. During this period, Teasdale confirmed its commitment to returning all striking employees to their home departments. All returning employees would be paid at the new higher wage rates. Teasdale further explained the Company's intent was not to replace bargaining unit positions with subcontractors and offered to clarify the contract language to reflect the same, reaffirming there is no intent to replace union members with outside contractors or temporary staff. In addition, Teasdale reviewed the current list of employees on strike, verifying that each would receive an immediate wage increase ranging from 5% to 17%. The Company also confirmed that employees bidding into lateral or higher positions would see their pay remain consistent or increase, with any reduction occurring only if an employee voluntarily bids into a lower-ranked classification role. Teasdale also reiterated its offer of a $500 return-to-work bonus to all striking employees. Despite Teasdale's efforts to alleviate the concerns raised by striking employees, the strike continues. 'Teasdale is dedicated to good faith negotiations and ensuring our employees know their contributions are valued,' said Tim O'Connor, Chief Executive Officer. 'We are working hard to find common ground that protects jobs, sustains our operations, and allows us to move forward together as one team.' While a resolution was not reached during the August 11 th meeting, Teasdale remains committed to ongoing discussions with the Grain Millers Union. With the previously announced transition to a 5-day, 8-hour per shift schedule, Teasdale will be adding 32 Grain Millers Union represented positions to support its Hoopeston, IL facility. The Company's focus remains on achieving a fair and sustainable agreement that benefits employees, customers, and the broader community.
