They continued: "We will still serve the same great coffee roasted by John and some great new additions like freshly pressed juices, ice cream floats and milkshakes. "Thanks for all your support over the years, it has been a blast. "We're super excited for the next part of this journey." Grain and Grind opened their first shop in Battlefield at the beginning of 2018 and now have seven cafes serving their small batch coffee.

Six restaurant and cafe updates from Glasgow this week
Here are six restaurant and cafe updates from Glasgow this week. A Glasgow coffee shop chain has appealed against a council decision to reject its plans for a takeaway deli in the city's Southside. Grain and Grind applied to change the use of its Strathbungo premises from a 'coffee shop/sandwich bar' to a 'hot food takeaway'. But planners turned down the application for the Pollokshaws Road shop due to the impact on neighbours and a listed building. Now, an appeal has been submitted. New chicken spot opens A brand new "fried chicken hotspot" has opened in Shawlands. Located within community bar Phillies of Shawlands on Pollokshaws Road, Birds is serving crispy fried chicken dishes and indulgent sides which is all designed for "messy, hands-on eating". Menu highlights includes their chicken tenders, the chicken Caesar burger and mac and cheese. A "long-standing fine dining" Chinese restaurant is set to open its second dine-in location. I-Chai, which already exists on Crow Road in Anniesland, have revealed they will open a new eatery on Auhinairn Road in Bishopbriggs. The restaurant will be located next to the brand's existing takeaway, I-Chai Express. A Spanish restaurant and bar has officially returned to Glasgow city centre. Following a two-year hiatus, Rioja opened its doors on Friday. The bar and restaurant, located on Hope Street, is set over three floors and will be serving food daily from noon until late. On the first floor, guests are greeted by an open-bar with bespoke tiles, hand-drawn artwork, and live DJ sets. A long-abandoned Glasgow restaurant unit could get a new lease on life. A planning application has been submitted to divide the former Koh-I-Noor at Charing Cross. The plan indicates the building would be split into two retail units, each with its own entrance. If successful, the site could be used again after nearly six years of laying empty. Hotel Chocolat at Silverburn A new cafe and store has opened at a Glasgow shopping centre. Hotel Chocolat finally opened at Silverburn, taking over a large unit. The international dessert retailer has welcomed its first customers at the new spot, equipped with an outdoor terrace, cafe and shop.
