Renault Korea's rebranding gains momentum with Grand Koleos

Renault Korea said Wednesday that its latest mid-size sport utility vehicle, the Grand Koleos, is expanding its presence as it drives up the carmaker's overall sales in Korea. The Grand Koleos — the company's first new model in four years — made a strong debut at the 2024 Busan Mobility Show. In the first four months since its launch, over 22,000 were sold. Renault Korea said this surge in demand contributed to an 80 percent year-over-year growth in sales last year, boosting both its domestic performance and Renault Group's global sales. In February 2025, Renault Korea sold 4,881 vehicles in the domestic market, with the Grand Koleos accounting for 84 percent of those sales (4,016 units). The Grand Koleos has been praised for its spacious interior, innovative technology, advanced safety features, and strong performance. With a 2,820 millimeter wheelbase — the longest in its class — it offers generous rear-seat legroom and a quiet, comfortable cabin, thanks to advanced Noise, Vibration and Harshness reduction technology. Renault Korea emphasizes safety as a top priority, noting that 18 percent of the Grand Koleos' body is built with ultra-high-strength Hot Press Forming components. The SUV also features up to 31 advanced driver assistance and convenience features. One of its standout innovations is the "openR" panoramic screen, which extends to the passenger side — a first for a domestic model. Additionally, buyers receive five years of unlimited in-car 5G data. The Grand Koleos E-Tech Hybrid variant delivers 245 horsepower through a dual-motor system, providing best-in-class performance with an official combined fuel efficiency of 15.7 kilometers per liter. Meanwhile, the 2.0 liter turbocharged gasoline model produces 211 horsepower and achieves 11.1 km/L fuel efficiency. Recognized for its outstanding features, the Grand Koleos has swept multiple industry awards, earning top SUV honors from three major organizations. Meanwhile, Renault Korea plans to continue its brand transformation following its official rebranding in April 2024. As part of this shift, the company dropped its previous moniker, Renault Korea Motors, in favor of a sleeker identity, Renault Korea, and adopted Renault's original lozenge logo. The carmaker has also been revamping dealerships nationwide while launching modernized showrooms to enhance its premium image.
