Sioux City Railroad Museum holds Grand Re-Opening
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A Sioux City attraction affected by last summer's floods was the Sioux City Railroad Museum.
The museum had to close last June because of flooding. The museum grounds was completely submerged by water from the flooded big Sioux river.
It re-opened on March 1st but Saturday they held a Grand Re-Opening Family Day celebration. There were train rides, pony rides, a bouncy house and Lego train displays. according to museum officials, it took a lot of work to get to this day.
'It's been amazing to watch the labor of love and sweat equity that was put in by volunteers, contractors and with the community support with donations and that. They put in tens of thousands of hours to bring this site back after the catastrophic damage done by the flood in June,' said Larry Obermeyer, the President of the Sioux City Railroad Museum.
If you missed Saturday's event, the Sioux City Railroad Museum is open Thursday through Sunday, and admission is free.
