First, the Imola, named for the famous Italian racetrack and created as a test bed for subsystems and engineering concepts to employ in future Pagani models. With such low production volumes and the commercial need to create rare batches to please clients, Pagani has produced engineering 'pull-forwards' like the Zonda R that informed the Huayra, and the Huayra R track car and Huayra BC that pulled forward materials and suspension design for the third-generation Pagani, the Utopia. Only five editions of the Imola will be built, guaranteeing its collectability. Mercedes-AMG's V12 delivers 827 horsepower. The engine also spools up 811 lb.-ft. of torque (1,100 ... More Nm in the European measure). Power is delivered through Pagani's unique development of an Xtrac 7-speed semi-auto gearbox. So paddleshifting is the order of the day, executed in milliseconds, exactly what one wants on-track. Aero masterpiece. The engine has the ultimate build quality and engineering depth of Mercedes-AMG paired with the Italian passion of Pagani. The car companies able to match the engineering skill and depth of Mercedes and Mercedes-AMG can be counted on one hand, and you don't need all five digits. Pagani Imola cockpit. That means without oil and fuel, Imola tips the scales at 2,748 lb. (1,246 kilos), thanks to its composite chassis. Horacio Pagani started working with composites when employed at Lamborghini more than three decades ago, and eventually established his own composites manufacturing company which provides lightweight components to the automotive and aerospace industries, and also defense industry. Pagani composite is as advanced as any in the world. Pagani Imola interior. Even the Acquarello Light paintwork is ultra-light weight, shaving 11 lbs. off the car. With fuel and oil onboard, perhaps add 150 pounds. But Imola is still well under 3000 pounds, comparable or superior to other track-day exotic specials, even with the weight of a semi-auto gearbox. Lower weight helps not just with acceleration and top speed, but most importantly for a track car, with cornering turn-in precision. A lighter car can simply change direction with greater ease. Pagani Imola features an electronically controlled and fully interconnected system of active dampers ... More (shock absorbers for those of us in the U.S.). Each project in Grandi Complicazioni is a unique journey taken by the client and a dedicated designer. Pagani imposes no limits to the effort in shapes, materials, colors, finishes. Both the Huayra Epitome seen here and the Imola were born from this approach. Epitome is the first and only Huayra equipped with a manual transmission, for a pure mechanical ... More driving experience. This car is the first Huayra equipped with Pagani's Xtrac manual transmission. Yes, you must know how to work the third pedal to the left. This Huayra Epitome wears all-new front and rear bumper shapes, and the front hood has exclusive light clusters and a new wheel arch air extraction system, and the rear hood with oversized side conveyors and integrated wing. The front end features a new bumper with an integrated splitter, designed at the customer's request to increase downforce, accelerating airflow to the inner radiator ducts. The wider mouth allows more airflow to the new inner ducts, optimizing aerodynamics and improving the efficiency of the front radiators. The light units are also exclusive to this vehicle: the Huayra Epitome is the only Pagani one-off to feature four light units installed on the front hood and two DRL elements installed on the bumper. The rear has been completely redesigned following the requests from the client, who wanted a hood with an integrated wing. A new aerodynamic cover for the rear lights has also been designed to reduce airflow resistance, extending the laminar boundary layer over the hood and giving an aggressive and unique look to the car's rear. The shift linkage is exposed, and refined like pieces in a musical jewelry box. Perhaps in response to demands from those of us in California, where the roads in urban and suburban areas can be truly horrendous, Pagani has added a super-soft mode thanks to the active suspension. The button is located in the cabin on the central tunnel, to be activated when driving on rough roads for extra comfort. Above 93 mph (150 kph), the damper setting returns to its normal condition, depending on the driving mode selected. A supercar is not much fun if your kidneys are being punched. Is This Pagani Hot Enough to Melt the ICE at St. Moritz Concours?

Exotic hypercar maker Pagani will show off its new Utopia Roadster next Friday and Saturday at The ICE St. Moritz (International Concours of Elegance) on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21 and 22. The roadster will be one of several Paganis new and old, dating all the way back to a blue Zonda S 7.3 that debuted 22 years ago in nearby Geneva. Photos of the Utopia Roadster debuted last summer, and the specs were typically Pagani promising: 852-hp twin-turbo V-12 without hybrid assist, but with a manual option. Only 130 are slated to be produced, at a sticker price of $3.4 million. The St. Moritz showing is promised as a "dynamic debut," which could mean it'll just be driven into the show, or it could mean the supercar may take some laps around the ICE festival's frozen course. We'll know tomorrow. In any case, it'll be nice to see it among the various Paganis present. "The showcased model (Utopia Roadster) embodies Horacio Pagani's vision, a tribute to the past projected into the future," Pagani says of the Utopia. "Its body, finished in glossy Verde Mara, draws inspiration from the model car he built as a child in Argentina—still preserved at the Horacio Pagani Museo—enhanced by Grigio Montecarlo details." The Utopia is the successor to the Pagani Huayra, introduced in coupe form in 2022. Other Paganis on hand will include the Huayra Epitome—also promised in both static and dynamic form—as well as a Huayra R and a Zonda S 7.3. The ICE St. Moritz is part of a weekend-long celebration of winter sports that began in the 1920s with skiers towed behind horses. It evolved into skiers towed behind Porsches and has now expanded to include all manner of ice races for classic and modern cars, as well as this concours. St. Moritz lies midway between Milan and Innsbruck in the Swiss Alps. Flights are cheap. You have a week. Get going! This one-off Hypercar comes from Grandi Complicazioni, the name of Pagani's division "dedicated to ultra-limited series projects that push the boundaries of technology, entrusted to only a handful of the world's most skilled artisans."The only production Pagani available with a manual transmission, the seven-speed stick shift is mated to a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V-12 making 852 hp. Pagani meticulously redesigned the carbon-titanium monocoque for maximum rigidity without adding weight. That means the Utopia Roadster isn't any heavier than its coupe counterpart, which Pagani claims weighs a feathery 2,822 pounds without any its fixed-roof sibling, the Utopia Roadster is among the few new hypercars that doesn't have a hybrid powertrain. Another anomaly is that it caters to purists by offering a seven-speed manual transmission. The stick-shift setup routes power from the twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12 to the rear wheels. Developed by Mercedes-AMG, the Utopia's hand-assembled engine makes a hefty 852 hp at 6,000 rpm and 811 lb-ft of torque from 2,800–5,900 can skip the Utopia's third pedal and opt for the seven-speed automatic, which allows paddle-shifted gear changes. Pagani didn't share any performance estimates, but it did quote the droptop's electronically limited top speed of 217 mph.A manual transmission is a rarity in today's Zonda S 7.3, chassis number 20, debuted at the 2003 Geneva Motor particular model stands out with its Blu Francia exterior and ivory and nubuck leather also features exclusive wheels with blue-painted spokes—a unique detail created specifically for this built to a customer's specifications, it was later reacquired by Horacio Pagani to preserve its history and maintain its deep connection with the Pagani Atelier.
