Volvo adds extended maintenance plan to XC60 range in SA
Volvo Car South Africa (VCSA) has introduced a limited-time maintenance plan for its XC60, aimed at offering long-term peace of mind and reducing ownership costs. For a limited period, new XC60 models, including the mild-hybrid B5 and Recharge T8 plug-in hybrid, will be covered by a seven-year/140,000km maintenance plan (whichever comes first). This extends the three-year/60,000km plan and applies across all trim levels. The offer is valid until the end of September 2025, while stocks last. 'Extending the maintenance plan of the XC60 reflects VCSA's focus on long-term vehicle care and customer value,' said VCSA MD Grant Locke. 'It forms part of our broader commitment to delivering an ownership experience that matches the quality of our vehicles and the needs of today's drivers.' The maintenance plan covers scheduled services, including labour, parts and software updates, in line with Volvo's recommended service schedule, giving owners greater confidence and predictability in running costs.

As MD, Locke will lead VCSA's operations, driving strategic growth, refining the customer experience and advancing the company's electrification ambitions in South Africa. His appointment comes at a time of rapid change in the local automotive sector, where evolving mobility trends and digital innovation are reshaping how consumers and automakers engage. Locke brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in commercial business, with a focus on financial services. Before joining Volvo, he worked in South Africa's financial services sector with OUTvest, a leading investment service platform developed within OUTsurance. Locke previously served as the Swedish carmaker's global head of financial services. Before that he was head of commercial for Volvo's mobility and financial services division. Locke brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in commercial business, with a focus on financial services. Before joining Volvo, he worked in SA's financial services sector with OUTvest, an investment service platform developed within OUTsurance. 'We are pleased to welcome Grant to Volvo Car SA. His blend of commercial acumen and leadership in digital transformation will strengthen the business as we continue to accelerate our growth locally,' said Marishka Govender, CFO at VCSA. Locke's appointment comes shortly after Volvo announced it was reducing its local dealer footprint as part of a plan to eventually sell only electric vehicles. 'VCSA is entering the next phase of its network restructuring, focusing on strengthening its national dealer network by rebuilding service coverage for existing clients and establishing a robust distribution and service network nationwide,' said the company. 'This renewed approach underscores the brand's commitment to providing South African customers with convenient access to first rate service and support.
