DC and Marvel Are Smashing Together Batman and Deadpool
It will probably never happen on the big screen but in the comic book shops, Marvel and DC are ready to team up once again. The two biggest comic book companies just announced that two of their most popular characters, Batman and Deadpool, are going to show down across splash pages later this year. Entertainment Weekly broke the news of the crossover, which will mainly consist of two separate one-shot comics. On the Marvel side, Zeb Wells (Deadpool and Wolverine) is writing Deadpool/Batman with art and cover by Greg Capullo (Wolverine: Revenge) which will be out September 17. Over at DC, Grant Morrison (All Star Superman) is writing Batman/Deadpool with art by Dan Mora (Batman/Superman), which will be out in November. The Marvel comic will tell a story about Wade Wilson being hired to do a job in Gotham City, which doesn't sit well with Batman. DC wouldn't say what its story would be about, but both revealed in addition to these one shots, there will be some 'backup adventures' with other 'exciting Marvel and DC character match-ups.' All of that, however, is being kept under wraps, as is another set of crossovers coming in 2026. 'I don't do many comics these days but there was no way I could turn down the chance to work with Dan Mora again, one of my all-time favorite artistic collaborators—and definitely no way I could turn down Batman and Deadpool!' Grant Morrison said in a statement to EW. 'Expect 4th wall-busting mayhem, owls, blood, blades, and at least one giant typewriter!' 'After writing Amazing Spider-Man for 60 issues, I told Marvel I needed a break,' Wells said. 'Marvel told me I could do that or I could write a comic starring Deadpool and Batman with the best Batman artist of our generation. I no longer needed a break. In Batman we've found someone who has even less time for Deadpool's antics than Wolverine, but a city-wide threat from the Joker makes strange bedfellows (literally, if Deadpool had his way). It's been a blast letting Deadpool loose in Gotham City and watching what happens.' For those wondering, this is not the first time Marvel and DC have teamed up for something like this, it's just been over 20 years Previous crossovers and seen Spider-Man and Superman together, as well as the Justice League and Avengers. Jim Lee, the iconic artist turned CCO and Publisher at DC, explained why it's taken so long to do it again. 'It happens kind of once every generation of readers,' Lee said. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions as to why. The timing has to be right in that you don't want to do these too often. You want them to feel special. It is sort of finding that right moment for both companies to come together because it is complex. There's a lot more coordination, collaboration, approvals that have to be done. And, obviously, from the business side, you're sharing revenue, but it's going to be a big deal. So you want the story, creatively, to warrant the hype of it all.' Here are the two covers of the comics and you can read more over at EW. Are you excited to check these out? Do you think this could ever happen on the big screen?

SUPERMAN Motion Poster Sees Clark Kent Transform Into The Man of Steel — GeekTyrant
DC Studios just dropped a new motion poster for James Gunn's Superman , and it features David Corenswet's dual take on the iconic character. The animation smoothly transitions from mild-mannered Clark Kent to the fully-realized Man of Steel. Corenswet has openly acknowledged the legacy he's stepping into with this role, saying: 'Would this be worth doing if this was the only thing I do as an actor for the rest of my life?' he asked in a recent interview. 'I think the answer is yes.' He also touched on the challenge of playing a character who, at least on the surface, doesn't wrestle with the same level of darkness as his DC counterparts. 'Compared to Batman and Spider-Man, he isn't depicted as having great inner turmoil. If he's invincible, what's at stake?' Corenswet said, quoting All-Star Superman writer Grant Morrison. 'All the important stuff. You can be the most well-adjusted, well-intentioned person, but people will still die. You can't save everyone forever.' I like what I've seen from Corenswet in this movie so far and I'm looking forward to seeing more. Superman will tell the story of 'Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. 'He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned. 'It's set in a world very different from ours and far removed from the DCEU. Heroes have been around for ages, and we'll see how it affected this world's history and has shaped the DCU." The cast of Superman also includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois, Skyler Gisondo as Clark's best pal, Jimmy Olsen; Wendell Pierce as The Daily Planet's Perry White; Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl; Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders, aka Hawkgirl; and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. It also stars Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord; Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt, aka Mister Terrific; Maria Gabriela de Faria as Angela Spica, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampan as Eve Teschmacher; Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason, aka Metamorphosis; Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.; Neva Howell as Martha Kent; and Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 11, 2025.

SUPERMAN Toy Leak Teases Wild Fortress of Solitude Surprise — GeekTyrant
Well, it looks like Superman's Fortress of Solitude is housing more than just robot servants, Krypto, and quiet reflection. Thanks to a newly revealed toy set, we've got a glimpse at another wild surprise from James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie. The toy in question shows off a creature that looks suspiciously like an Abominable Snowman. It's a towering, white-furred beast, and it does't look like a happy houseguest. Now, not every movie tie-in toy ends up representing something that actually shows up on screen, but a lot of the time it does. Fans of the comics might remember that Superman's Fortress once included a kind of intergalactic zoo, home to alien species, rare creatures, and endangered beings from destroyed planets. That may be coming to the movie. Could this monster be a misunderstood relic of another world? A guardian? Or just one more threat waiting for Lex Luthor and The Engineer when they inevitably storm the place? Gunn has been upfront in the past about pulling from comic book roots, especially the more fantastical storytelling. In an interview earlier this year, Gunn explained: "I would say it's an original story, but the tone and the look of the film, in many ways, is inspired by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's All-Star Superman. But if I wrote my own story, then I could just rip off their look. 'No, I'm kidding. They're really great guys, and they're incredibly talented artists. And I read that comic book, and it really has this feeling of the big, old-school, science-fiction Silver Age comics. We have robots and monster babies and giant kaiju and all of that stuff." And if you're wondering how that balances with a character like Superman, Gunn adds: "But that is also grounded around these incredibly real relationships with a couple that has started dating a few months ago, and now they're really learning the ins and outs of each other. 'What's good about them? What's not so good about them? And what are their ideals like? We have Lois Lane, who's a pragmatist, and Superman is an idealist, and how does that work together? My wife and I are like that, actually." That mix of massive sci-fi spectacle and character-focused storytelling is the kind of formula that will setsthis Superman apart from any of the other film's we've seen. If this arctic beast does show up in the movie, It will be interesting to see how it will play into the story that Gunn set out to tell. If the Fortress of Solitude is housing snow monsters now, who knows what else is waiting behind those icy walls.
