SUPERMAN Toy Leak Teases Wild Fortress of Solitude Surprise — GeekTyrant

Well, it looks like Superman's Fortress of Solitude is housing more than just robot servants, Krypto, and quiet reflection. Thanks to a newly revealed toy set, we've got a glimpse at another wild surprise from James Gunn's upcoming Superman movie.
The toy in question shows off a creature that looks suspiciously like an Abominable Snowman. It's a towering, white-furred beast, and it does't look like a happy houseguest. Now, not every movie tie-in toy ends up representing something that actually shows up on screen, but a lot of the time it does.
Fans of the comics might remember that Superman's Fortress once included a kind of intergalactic zoo, home to alien species, rare creatures, and endangered beings from destroyed planets.
That may be coming to the movie. Could this monster be a misunderstood relic of another world? A guardian? Or just one more threat waiting for Lex Luthor and The Engineer when they inevitably storm the place?
Gunn has been upfront in the past about pulling from comic book roots, especially the more fantastical storytelling. In an interview earlier this year, Gunn explained:
"I would say it's an original story, but the tone and the look of the film, in many ways, is inspired by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's All-Star Superman. But if I wrote my own story, then I could just rip off their look.
'No, I'm kidding. They're really great guys, and they're incredibly talented artists. And I read that comic book, and it really has this feeling of the big, old-school, science-fiction Silver Age comics. We have robots and monster babies and giant kaiju and all of that stuff."
And if you're wondering how that balances with a character like Superman, Gunn adds:
"But that is also grounded around these incredibly real relationships with a couple that has started dating a few months ago, and now they're really learning the ins and outs of each other.
'What's good about them? What's not so good about them? And what are their ideals like? We have Lois Lane, who's a pragmatist, and Superman is an idealist, and how does that work together? My wife and I are like that, actually."
That mix of massive sci-fi spectacle and character-focused storytelling is the kind of formula that will setsthis Superman apart from any of the other film's we've seen.
If this arctic beast does show up in the movie, It will be interesting to see how it will play into the story that Gunn set out to tell.
If the Fortress of Solitude is housing snow monsters now, who knows what else is waiting behind those icy walls.
