Kusi-Asare scores again for Bayern (video)
Kusi-Asare scores again for Bayern (video) Jonah Kusi-Asare is in great form with Bayern Munich. After finding the net against Tottenham last week, the young Ghanaian striker was on target once again. On Tuesday, Bayern Munich played their final pre-season match against Grasshoppers—a dress rehearsal before the new campaign. And as soon as an opportunity presented itself, Kusi-Asare seized it. Receiving the ball in the box, he unleashed a powerful strike right into the top corner. A true striker's finish—a goal that highlights his growing confidence at the Bavarian powerhouse. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Bayern. For a player who only recently arrived from AIK, scoring in back-to-back games sends a powerful message. If he keeps up this momentum, Vincent Kompany might well offer him more than just a super-sub role.

Ulreich extends with Bayern, Zvonarek joins Grasshoppers on loan
Goalkeeper Sven Ulreich has signed a one-year extention until summer 2026 with Bayern Munich, the German record champions said in a statement on Tuesday. Ulreich, 36, joined Bayern in 2015 from VfB Stuttgart and has since stood in for Manuel Neuer several times when the number one keeper was injured. Last season, however, he was third choice for coach Vincent Kompany, who relied on youngster Jonas Urbig when Neuer was not available. "Sven Ulreich is reliability personified: he delivers what he promises - in the truest sense of the word. Characters like him are good for any team. We're delighted he'll be spending another season with us," board member for sport Max Eberl said. Bayern also said that they have sent their young Croatian Lovro Zvonarek on another season-long loan, to Swiss club Grasshoppers. The 20-year-old midfielder arrived in Munich in 2022 and has a contract until 2027. Zvonarek has appeared 27 times for Bayern's reserves, with 12 goals and seven assists, and four times for the first team. Last season, the Croatian under-21 international played 22 games for Austrian champions Sturm Graz, scoring twice, in a first loan spell. Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said that Zvonarek "gained valuable experience" in Austria, and that 'he'll now take his next steps in Switzerland and get even more game time" at Zurich's Grasshoppers.

England vs France: live updates from Euro 2025
Stadion Letzigrund in Zurich has a superb Euro 2025 line-up (Kit Shepard writes). As well as tonight's crunch game, it hosts England vs Netherlands on Wednesday, and Sweden vs Germany next Saturday. It will also host a mouth-watering quarter-final involving a team from each of the two strongest groups (Group C and Group D) and then a semi-final which should involve Spain. However, the venue is not perfectly suited to football. The athletics track means fans are a long way from the pitch, while the capacity of 22,700 feels small for some of the tournament's biggest games. The ground is home to Zurich's two big football clubs, Grasshoppers and FC Zurich. Of course, athletics is held here too. It was at this stadium in 1960 that Armin Hary, the German sprinter, became the first human to run the 100m in ten seconds flat. The judges were so shocked that they decided Hary's time must have been down to a false start. He was allowed a repeat run 35 minutes later and finished in ten seconds again. While Zurich does not quite feel awash with football fans yet, it is tough to avoid the Euros around the city (Kit Shepard writes). Adverts promoting the tournament can be seen on billboards, at tram stops and in supermarkets. They often involve the Switzerland players, who have thrown themselves into promoting the tournament. Lia Wälti, the Switzerland captain and Arsenal midfielder, has even set up an Instagram page to showcase the country and (presumably) prove it offers more than merely fondue and eye-watering prices. One Pepsi advert features David Beckham and Nadine Riesen, the Switzerland defender who looks like Alessia Russo's long lost twin. Now that would be unprecedented sibling-based drama even for Russo, whose brother is currently on Love Island. Good evening and welcome to The Times' live coverage of England vs France as Sarina Wiegman's Lionesses side begin their quest for glory at Euro 2025. With the Lionesses set to kick off the defence of their Euros title with their Group D opener in Zurich, stay tuned for live updates and analysis from Kit Shepard at the Stadion Letzigrund throughout the evening.
