Peoria man identified by corner as victim of Saturday night traffic collision
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A 44-year-old Peoria man was killed this past weekend when he was struck by a car in North Peoria. According to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood, Theodore Connor, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday night after he was struck while trying to cross Allen Road just south of the intersection with Willow Knolls Road. The collision happened at about 6:20 p.m. Officers with the Peoria Police Department and troopers with the Illinois State Police handled the investigation. Man dead after being struck by a car in North Peoria A Gray 2000 Volvo driven by a 19-year-old Springfield man was on Allen Road when the victim, a 44-year-old man, tried to cross the road. The car struck the man and killed him, the state police said. Despite treatment by paramedics at the scene, he died at the scene, Harwood said. Preliminary autopsy findings indicated Connor suffered severe multiple blunt force trauma injuries and broken bones that were not compatible with life. He likely died instantly, the coroner said. As required by Illinois law, toxicology testing is under way and those results are pending. It wasn't immediately clear if the Springfield driver was facing any citations or charges. Man dead after being struck by a car in North Peoria
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — One man is dead Saturday night after being hit by a car near the intersection of Willow Knolls and Allen roads. The collision happened at about 6:45 p.m. on Allen Road as it goes south from Willow Knolls Drive, said a spokesperson from the Illinois State Police which is investigating the incident. A Gray 2000 Volvo driven by a 19-year-old Springfield man was on Allen Road when the victim, a 44-year-old man, tried to cross the road. The car struck the man and killed him, the state police said. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood confirmed Sunday morning that the person who was struck had died. The Springfield man was taken to an area hospital for non life-threatening injuries. The intersection was closed for about four hours, reopening at about 11:35 p.m., the state police said. It wasn't immediately clear if the Springfield driver was facing any citations or charges.
