A higher risk of severe weather, including large hail and damaging winds, is expected later Sunday afternoon and evening, mainly south of I-20. This system will lead to several days of unsettled weather, with ongoing storm chances and a potential for localized flooding. DALLAS - A complex of storms moving south from Oklahoma began impacting North Texas on Sunday morning, bringing showers and thunderstorms with a heightened risk of more severe weather anticipated later in the day. The initial wave of storms crossed the Red River early Sunday, affecting northern parts of Grayson County and far northeast Montague County. These showers and thunderstorms are forecast to continue tracking east and southeast through the late morning, primarily affecting areas east of Interstate 35 and north of Interstate 20. Some of these morning storms could produce locally heavy downpours, small hail, and brief gusty winds. Heavy rainfall was reported east of Thackerville, Oklahoma, approaching the Sherman-Denison area along U.S. Highway 75. A greater potential for severe weather is expected later Sunday afternoon and into the evening, particularly for areas south of Interstate 20. New storm development, fueled by increasing humidity, daytime heating, and residual boundaries from the morning storm activity, is expected after 4 or 5 p.m. The primary threats from these later storms include large hail and damaging winds. While the overall tornado threat is considered low, it is not zero. Morning temperatures on Sunday were mainly in the 60s and 70s, with dew points expected to climb throughout the day. High temperatures are forecast to reach the upper 80s. North Texas man faces manslaughter charges after crash kills 3, including 2 young children
A Rowlett man is facing manslaughter charges after being arrested in connection with a crash that killed three people, including two young kids, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. Rocky Patterson, 63, has been charged with three counts of manslaughter – a second-degree felony – for the deaths of Tommy Moorehead III, 41, and a 6-year-old and 4-year-old, whose names have not been released due to their ages. According to DPS, the crash happened just before 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 in southern Grayson County, just north of Anna. DPS said a Dodge Ram 3500 Patterson was driving was trying to pass a truck while ascending a hill in a no-passing zone, on FM 3133, just west of Jim Cannon Road. Patterson then struck a Silverado head-on, causing that vehicle to catch fire. All three occupants of the Silverado, Moorehead and the two children, were pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said. The driver of the truck Patterson was trying to initially pass, a 74-year-old man from Anna, was also injured, and was treated at the scene. Patterson was taken to a hospital in McKinney. Officials said on May 18 that the Texas Highway Patrol obtained an arrest warrant for Patterson, and he was booked into the Grayson County jail. DPS said the investigation is ongoing.

2 children and 1 adult dead in fatal head-on crash in Grayson County
The Brief A three-vehicle crash on FM-3133 west of Jim Cannon Rd. resulted in three fatalities. Rocky Patterson, 63, of Rowlett, TX, was arrested and charged after allegedly causing the head-on collision while trying to pass in a no-passing zone. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time. The Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to a three-vehicle crash on FM-3133, just west of Jim Cannon Rd, around noon on Sunday. What we know A preliminary investigation indicated that a 2007 Dodge 3500 was westbound behind a 2017 Toyota Tacoma, ascending a hill. The driver of the Dodge 3500 attempted to pass the Tacoma in a No-Passing Zone and struck a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado head-on, causing the Silverado to catch fire. The Dodge 3500 also hit the Toyota Tacoma. The driver of the Dodge 3500 was Rocky Patterson, a 63-year-old man from Rowlett, TX. Patterson was transported to Baylor Scott Hospital in McKinney. The driver of the Silverado was pronounced dead at the scene. Identified as 41-year-old, Tommy Moorehead III, from Leonard, TX. The passengers, a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Tacoma, Dennis Pringle, a 74-year-old from Anna, TX, was treated at the scene. On May 18, Texas Highway Patrol Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Rocky Patterson for three counts of manslaughter, a second-degree felony.
