Man, 54, dies after collapsing near summit of Cumbrian mountain

A 54-year-old man has died after collapsing near the summit of Little Man, a peak on Skiddaw, on Thursday morning (August 14). Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called at 9.48am, with support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter R199, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team, and Cumbria Police. The ambulance service were notified that a 54 year old man had collapsed and was unconscious near the summit of Little Man, passing walkers began CPR before mountain rescue volunteers arrived and continued resuscitation efforts. Initial attempts to reach the casualty by air were hampered by low cloud, preventing Helimed 58 from landing nearby. Once conditions improved, Coastguard helicopter R199 was able to deliver paramedics to the scene. Despite the combined efforts of walkers, rescue teams, and medical staff, the man could not be saved. Keswick Mountain Rescue Team has extended its sympathies to the man's family and friends.

A woman died after collapsing in the fells on a day of "back-to-back call-outs", a mountain rescue team has and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team (TWSMRT) and the Great North Air Ambulance Service were called to help the woman, who became unwell in an area above St John's Chapel in Stanhope, County Durham, on died later that day, rescuers mountain rescue team said it had been deployed to three incidents in two hours. The team was first called after a woman injured her leg in a fall near to Gibson's Cave in Bowlees, with other emergency services, the team helped to treat and transport her to an ambulance. While finishing that incident, volunteers were called to help a woman who hurt her arm after falling close to the roadside in Bowlees, near Low Force were then deployed to help with the fatality."Despite everyone's best efforts the lady was sadly pronounced deceased. Police treating death of boy, 2, in Carlisle as 'unexplained'

CUMBRIA Police are treating the death of a two-year-old boy in Carlisle as 'unexplained'. Emergency services were called to a property on Edderside Drive at 4.19pm on Thursday and the Great North Air Ambulance was also deployed. A two-year-old boy who was reported as 'being unwell' was taken to hospital by ambulance and later died. Police have now confirmed that they are treating the death as 'unexplained' however do not believe there are any 'suspicious circumstances' surrounding the incident at this time. A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: "The death is currently being treated as unexplained however there are no suspicious circumstances at this time." A police investigation is currently ongoing. In a previous statement, a Cumbria Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services have responded to an incident in Carlisle. "Police were contacted by the North West Ambulance Service at 4:19pm today (17 July) with a report of a child being unwell at an address on Edderside Drive. "The child, a 2-year-old boy, was taken to hospital and has sadly died. "Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the death."

Emergency Services Rescue Person from Water at Maryport Harbour

A multi-agency emergency response was launched on the evening of Sunday, July 6, after reports of a person in the water at Maryport Harbour. The call came in at 5:38pm and was coordinated by Belfast Coastguard. Due to low tidal conditions, the responding team deployed their Emergency Rescue Boat (ERB), which quickly crossed the harbour to reach the area of concern. Working alongside Cumbria Police, responders located a casualty in the water. The individual was brought to safety and received initial medical care on site. The person was then transferred to the care of North West Ambulance Service, with additional support from Maryport and Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Teams. The Great North Air Ambulance Service also arrived to provide further medical assessment. Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service were also in attendance during the operation. A spokesperson for the Maryport Rescue Team praised the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved, stating: 'This was a well-executed operation that demonstrated the effectiveness of emergency services working together under challenging conditions.' No further details about the casualty's condition have been released.
