Sudbury Wolves players, locals attend NHL development camps

With another NHL Entry Draft in the books and teams bringing prospects together for development camps, several Sudbury Wolves and hometown products received their latest chance to impress big-league brass.

Among those with the most local ties were the Toronto Maple Leafs, who gathered no fewer than 18 current or recently graduated OHLers this week. Among them were overage candidate Alex Pharand, a Chelmsford resident and a former Chicago Blackhawks prospect who joined Wolves teammate Hudson Chitaroni and fellow Greater Sudburian Sam McCue at the Buds' development camp.

McCue was Toronto's seventh-round pick in 2024, while Chitaroni and Pharand were invited as free agents.

Members of the 2024-25 Wolves roster who attended camps this week also included Quentin Musty with the San Jose Sharks, Kieron Walton with the Winnipeg Jets and Nathan Villeneuve with the Seattle Kraken. Walton and Villeneuve are expected to return to the Wolves this fall.
