Risk of unsettled weather in Ottawa Tuesday with heat expected to linger
The heat warning in effect across much of Ontario is expected to lift in some parts of the province today, but Ottawa could see hot and humid conditions linger a bit longer.
Environment and Climate Change Canada says eastern Ontario and the GTHA might see this latest heat wave last another day, as other areas cool off.
'A cooler air mass is expected to arrive tonight, bringing an end to this heat event. There is the possibility that eastern Ontario and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area could see hot and humid conditions continue into Wednesday,' the heat warning says.
Monday's official high was 35.1 C, a tenth of a degree shy of tying the June 23 high of 35.2 C for the hottest day of the summer.
The forecast for Tuesday in Ottawa includes a few clouds and a 30 per cent chance of showers with the risk of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. The high is 34 C with a humidex of 42.
Muggy weather continues into the evening and overnight with a 30 per cent chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm with a low of 21 C.
Wednesday's outlook is cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of 30 C with a humidex of 39. Wednesday might also see a thunderstorm.
Sunshine returns to the forecast on Thursday with a high of 27 C. Friday's outlook is sunny with a high of 28 C.
