Humming home tunes

The Jonas Brothers are dropping their seventh album Greetings from Your Hometown tomorrow, August 8. The new project embraces elements of the American pop-rock trio's hometown New Jersey, drawing inspiration from disco pop sounds. The second single of the album, titled No Time to Talk, is reminiscent of the 1977 banger Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees. The musical siblings Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas are expected to feature on the production. 'It really is a love letter to our roots musically and to our home state,' Nick said in an interview. 'There's a heavy influence of Bruce Springsteen and storytelling behind some of the greats from the state. But also, it's just about coming back to those roots. 'We are a family at our core, more than a band or anything else. Any time we come back to that feeling of playing music in our living room in Jersey, it's a great feeling,' he added. Formed in 2005, the band first gained popularity for its contributions to various Disney projects, most famously the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana. The then teen heart-throbs later appeared in the films Camp Rock (2008) and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam (2010). In 2013, the band split up due to creative differences causing a 'deep rift', with each of them pursuing individual projects. In 2019, the Jonas Brothers announced the end of their 'hiatus' on social media, and released their fifth album, Happiness Begins. Greetings from Your Hometown serves as a follow-up to The Album (2023), which received generally positive reviews for its feel-good tunes and catchy melodies, which captured the band's essence. This year marks 20 years since the group's formation, which the brothers will be celebrating by embarking on the Jonas20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour.

Jonas Brothers Explain Why Band Break Up ‘Needed to Happen': ‘We Were Having Such a Difficult Time'

In just a few weeks, Jonas Brothers will kick off their extensive Greetings from Your Hometown tour in celebration of 20 years together as a band. They've barely left the road since reuniting for Happiness Begins in 2019, six years after they abruptly broke up due to creative differences (Translation: Nick wanted to go solo). Now that they're on the other side of it, the trio are able to see the silver lining in their rough patch as both bandmates and brothers. 'In reflection, I can definitely see how I could have more lovingly communicated something that needed to be said,' Nick said on an upcoming episode of Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals, per Billboard. 'It's often how we say things that matters more than what we're saying. I think we all knew that in the operating system that we were operating in, it had run its course. I just didn't know how to maturely articulate that and lovingly do that.' Jonas Brothers were in the process of rolling out their fifth album when they announced their breakup in October 2013. They were scheduled to begin their tour in two days when they pulled the plug on the run and officially split three weeks later. It might not have been the way they wanted it to go down, but Joe added that 'it needed to happen.' More than a decade later, he said, 'It's like we can communicate way better, because we don't need to be scared to have tough conversations.' Kevin noted that they aren't at a point where they can completely remove their filter with each other 'all the time,' but find it easier to come together when needed. When there's a true need, I think we always band together and we come to each other,' he said. 'I think we're brothers first. I know that's a little cliché to say, but we truly are. If there was an emergency of any capacity or there was really something that was happening, I think I could lean on them in a heartbeat.' The Jonas Brothers are hosting two album release parties in NYC next week

S.O.S. The Jonas Brothers are celebrating 20 years of hits this year with not only a new album, not only a new tour, but two album release parties in New York City this August to celebrate! Greetings from Your Hometown officially drops August 8, which is when Jonas Brothers fans can officially enjoy the album at two separate events that promise giveaways and limited edition prizes. The Manhattan event will be held at 5pm at Generation Records at 210 Thompson Street in Greenwich Village. This one will boast free tote bags and a raffle to win an autographed Jonas Brothers poster. At 6:30pm, the Greetings from Your Hometown release party begins at Greenpoint's For the Record at 1107 Manhattan Avenue, where fans can enjoy free giveaways and extras with any album purchase. The event is free, no RSVPs required. Those release parties are just two of many held at record stores across the country held August 8, as the Jonas Brothers posted on Instagram. As if that wasn't enough, the Greetings from Your Hometown tour officially launches August 10 in Rutherford, New Jersey. The beloved pop-rock trio first won our hearts in 2005 before briefly breaking up in 2013 and then reuniting in 2019. With the album and the anniversary, this tour will undoubtedly be unlike any that came before, promising fans not just new music but the chance to hear career highlights like stone-cold pop classic "Sucker" all over again. Joining them on select dates are Marshmello, The All-American Rejects and Boys Like Girls. The Greetings from Your Hometown tour runs across America and Canada through November 14, with stops in Toronto, Boston, Los Angeles, Dallas, Nashville and more. It's been a good year to be a Jonas fan. This past spring, the brothers held "the ultimate Jonas Brothers fan experience": a free fan convention, JonasCon, at the American Dream mall in New Jersey. The event featured live performances, DJ sets, Q&As and the announcement of both the Greetings from Your Hometown album and tour. But if you missed it, don't worry. JonasCon will be held at the stadium dates of the tour in place of pre-show activities, offering fans nationwide the chance to bond over their shared fandom.
