Plans for first Edinburgh Greggs Outlet offering products at discounted price
Edinburgh's first Greggs Outlet shop could open soon, with plans submitted to the council this week. The store, selling products left over from the previous day at a hugely discounted price, could open at 50 Glenalmond Place, Sighthill, with plans for external signage recently submitted. Dozens of outlets, including multiple in Glasgow, help contribute towards less food waste and allow those who can't afford Greggs products at full price to benefit from huge discounts. As food is made fresh daily at stores, food which isn't sold is removed from the shelves and as much as possible is transported to nearby outlets where it is sold the next day. In 2024, Greggs opened three outlets and say they have more on the way in 2025. A portion of the profit generated by sales at Greggs Outlets is also donated to the Greggs Foundation. The programme awards grants to charitable organisations that are working to tackle challenges facing local areas. The plans will now be considered by council planning officers before a decision is made. Join Edinburgh Live's Whatsapp Community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages.
