Mitchell man surprises wife with $100K lottery win
A Mitchell resident has won the top prize while playing INSTANT 3X FORTUNE.
Gregory Van Bakel, 46, told the OLG he's been playing the lottery since he was of age but this was his first big win.
'I went to the store and this ticket caught my eye, so I decided to buy it,' Bakel recalled while picking up his prize in Toronto. 'I played it right away while I was still at the store. When I scanned it using the ticket checker, I was shocked to see the winning amount.'
Bakel hadn't told his wife about the win before collecting his earnings, and hoped to surprise her with the cheque when he got home.
The father of three said he is planning on paying bills and investing the rest.
Bakel bought the winning ticket at a Convenience Mini Mart on Culver Drive in London.
